Parents of ISF: since this school is not affiliated to certain country's curriculum, is it going to incorporate National Education into the curriculum?  I am worried.

Seriously doubt it given that they developed their own curriculum on most subjects.  Will confirm and let you know once school reopens.

Why do you worry about the National Education if a balanced view is incorporated in the curriculum.I think ISF could make a good curriculum for National Education.

If your kid studies in an American curriculum school, he/she has to take American History and/or American Studies in middle school and high school, which is also national education in the disguise of history.

Yes, I agree that studying the history of a country is fine, but the contents should be true and without bias.  These two points seem to be the concern for local schools' parents.  Therefore, being an independent school and keen on Chinese culture, I do not know if ISF will put National Education into its curriculum.  I am concern because my kid will attend this school in Aug.

Your points are correct and your concern is true. This is why I want to allay your concern that ISF is an independent school. If it teach National Education, ISF could incorporate a balanced view on the issues and this could train your kid's critical mind.

My understandind is that National education is "mandatory" for government, subsidized and DSS schools, but not international and private schools. As a Chinese, knowing Chinese history should be a must. I mean the facts. My daughters school which is an IB school teaches Chinese History in MYP. Although this is not a subject in MYP.

Each and every school in Hongkong will be affected one way or another.

This "National Education" may not be mandatory for international schools, but rest assured that when it is imposed on local schools, there will be a massive increase in the number of families applying for international schools, worsening the already fierce competition.

Personally I have no strong view on "National Education" so long as the views are presented in a balanced way. It would develop the kids' critical mind, enable them to learn more about our rich Chinese history and differentiate the weakness and strength of our country and our country leaders.

My child is in ISF. I understand ISF really listen to the parents. If parents are really reject this, I don't think ISF will put this class in force. Also ISF is independent, I don't think this will be a problem.

Yes, kids who can speak fluent English and Mandarin would definitely have an advantage
