Yes, we should be careful with the purchase of any school debenture. With more supply of ISs, its value may go down.

I don't know if there are other SAIS in other countries but I did visit and sent my child to camp Asia which was hosted by Stamford American international School during our stay in Singapore. It's a big school with excellent facilities, highly recommended by other expatriates (we didn't choose this school for our child because in fact I think it's too luxurious). There is a Stamford Road in Singapore and there are Stamford Street, Stamford Bridge in UK, and Stamford is a city in USA. It's a common name and was not made up by the school.

To be fair, I believe this school chain is from Singapore and "Stamford" is a household name there, its origin being Sir Stamford Raffles who founded the colony of Singapore. The intention was to inspire prestige in the minds of Singaporeans and the name's likeness to a US university is probably coincidental but welcomed.

Stamford 係美國一個好大既城市，在地理上接近紐約。有好多大公司有 office 係果度，只係香港人唔太認識哩個城市。

Haha, I agree with you, there is no relationship and they just borrowed the name, a bit like 英皇珠寶 is not related to any 英皇

This school originates from Singapore and is a reputable school there. And Stamford is a common name in Singapore. I don't understand what's so funny about this name and why would anyone think that the school is trying to mislead people?! People should not be so narrow-minded and should have a more global perspective on things.
