Comparing to ESF, ICS is not that many ppl talk about but very keen competition. It is popular one in NT area

My guess is the following: 1. It follows American curriculum which people are less familiar with compared to the British one or IB; 2. It's a Christian school which is rather niche; 3. The size is quite small especially compared to ESF… Anyhow, I like his school very much (from campus visit) and would definitely love to hear more discussion on it.

My son (K1 now) joined ICS summer program in last summer and he enjoyed it very much! The course was led by the teachers as well as the ICS secondary students, they impressed me so much cos those big brothers n sisters were so nice, polite, caring and 樸素,that's what I am looking for in IS. I know it is very difficult to get a seat there, need to try my luck

Would like to know more about ICS too! Are there any ICS parents who can kindly share? How's the school in terms of academics, disciplines and extra-curriculum activities? How difficult / easy is its Chinese program? Is the school very difficult to get in? Millions of thanks!

It's very keen. And kids from their kindergarten get priority too. If you really like this school, better start from K1.

They teach bible daily from K1. Just so you know. Not everybody is ok with that.

Wonder: Do they teach 繁體 or 簡体? 廣東話, 國語 or 普通話?

If I remember correctly, they teach Mandarin in simplified characters. What's the difference between 國語 and 普通話?

Actually weekly Chinese dictation begins in Grade 1. Their Chinese program is still evolving. In fact, they just change the whole Chinese syllabus this year. So if you want to find an IS with very strong Chinese, ICS may not meet your expectation at this stage. Other than this, it's a very good school.

May I ask whether you mean R1 (reception 1) by 'K1'?
We applied for 2013 R1 admission but still haven't got invitation for interview yet...

We're applying 2014 R1 for my son. I heard from a friend whose child is in ICS that parents' religious background certainly helps. We are Christian ourselves and do look forward to our child receiving a faith based education. That might be one thing you'd like to emphasize if you are a Christian.

thanks Jolalee mama....both my hubby and i are christian but still we are so worry as christian back ...
Oh my mistake. I meant it in the future tense, as in "we'll be applying for it." Apologies for the confusion. Our son was born in Nov 2010, so we're submitting our application this summer as well.
Have you applied for some other International Schools for the academic year 2013-14? [to avoid going off topic, PM sent]

Their kindergarten is in Ma On Shan. Pre-Grade 1 and up is at their Shek Mun campus.

To add some clarity - their kindergarten used to be in Fo Tan but moved to Heng On (MOS) already. That old location is now occupied by Joyful World (sorry that's off the topic)
