You have to beware that there are some really good private schools in Canada, but they tend to be expensive, like CAD$45000 per (including residence). Even local canadian go to these schools and I would say, you must have a minimal TOEFL score to get in if your first language is not English.
There are also some private schools which service mostly International students, like people from HK, China and Taiwan. I would say, DON'T go there.
If you are going to private school, ask about their International student ratio (i.e. students coming from oversea as a visa student).
Public schools are ok, some are really good, some are not.
