妳只知道一位小朋友以前讀國際學校? 那學校所收的小朋友一定很叻了.  小一看懂Magic Tree House, 一點也不簡單啊! 這方面似乎比女拔要求更高, 對嗎?

那位小一的Ambrose Ho, 簡直是天才兒童呀! 羡慕死我!

首輪設小組遊戲 -  I would not say it is a game.  There are some activities such as lego, drawing.
次輪要求家長介紹自己的子女 - may not 介紹自己的子女 every time, maybe some other questions.

當然無可能同ambrose比, 佢小一已睇緊巴金文學, 懂作詩, 文章又寫得好, 不過功勞一定唔會係學校囉   

好多時小朋友都係careless mistake, 亞q d 唯有安慰自己, 佢都係識不過係唔小心啫....dictation都無所謂,但考試時唔通只要佢明, 識而唔須要笞岩問題?

It's true that homework is less than other schools but if you want to keep up with the top students or be the top level (at least 1/3) of the class, you must monitor the kids very closely especially test and exam are getting more difficult compared with P.1.  

I also have the same feeling with some other parents that students learn the basic from the school and parents have to teach them the rest.

請問你係咪識得有關個案?  因為有朋友既大仔將於07年9月入讀Grade 1, 而其細仔亦將於07年要投考08年Grade 1, 佢好想知佢細仔有無機入讀同一間學校!  請你可以再分享一些你所知, 讓我朋友知多D, 知道如何佈處!

Hi Juicy,

Actually! I don't have much to share. From the admission criteria (also posted in the web site - (d) Others 10% - (e.g. father or brother is an old boy of DBS; brother is studying in DBS or DBSPD; member of the Sheng Kung Hui Church).

Just from my observation only, many brothers are studying in DBSPD together.  So, I do think there is some preference for the younger brother (not just the official 10%) if the elder brother is studying in DBSPD.

If the elder son can admit to DBSPD, his character and strength are suitable for the school. Certainly, the parents have made contribution to build-up the strength.  However, I don't believe most younger brothers must have that character and strength.  Besides, in the 1st interview, only 1 out of 6 candidates are selected. I believe luck is important.  Therefore, if the school has no preference for the younger brother, there should not be so many successful cases.

Last but not the least, your friend still needs to well-prepare for the interview and to build-up the strength of her younger son.

From BK posting, even if the father is DBS old boy, there is still failure case.

多謝你的分享!  朋友就是有一丁點擔心細仔未必有大仔的強項, 例如觀察力和記性強, 精於數學等, 故有點擔心!不過都會盡能力培訓弟弟的!  

以我觀察所得, 朋友的大仔較淡定, 但細仔就好動兼活潑, 兩個性格好唔同, 所以...真係要睇細仔個人能否過第一關!


係呢,請問知唔知10% 係幾時計算?  係咪計入首輪面試後的總分去決定入唔入到次輪面試呢?  咁有10分就真係有D著數喎!

This past year, the 10pts was counted in the 1st interview. But the year before, it was counted in the 2nd interview; so that year, a lot of people with the 10pts did not get in. Noone knows if they will change the rules again next year.

嘩, 咁呢10分又真係好舉足輕重噃!  有兩個仔仔既家長, 如果可以培養到大果個入到DBSPD, 咁細果個咪可以安心好多!咁我個朋友咪可以無咁大壓力?!
