[中學] Is it hard to switch from a local school to international school later on?

Does any families have experience switching from a local school to international school?  Is there any considerations that needs to be considered?
My child is currently in local school P3.  I am thinking of switching my child around P4-P6 range to international school as it is not as demanding (especially now that he has a solid foundation from local school).  I was thinking ESF or any international school that isn't high in demand (i.e. CIS, HKIS, etc.).

Thanks!

It is definitely not as easy as a few years ago. If you are considering ESF, you should apply now (at least 2 years before the target transfer time).  The office would let you know roughly how long is the queue for the campuses you selected.
I wouldn't say CIS and HKIS are not high in demand as they are some of the most reputed IS in HK with great academic track record! Instead, if you are looking for IS that are not as popular (thus easier to get in), you could try KIS, DSC, etc. Check out other posts where other parents have more recommendations:

Other considerations for transition to IS could be: student age cut off month/date, foreign passport FP requirement, simplified vs. traditional Chinese, curricula (IB/ GCSE/ US/ Aus/ Canadian, etc.)

Good luck.
