Students at Malvern College are celebrating this morning following a bumper set of A-Level results.
The school says it achieved a better set of grades to those achieved in 2019 (the school's last pre-pandemic set of results).
This comes in spite of warnings in the press that students should expect fewer top grades and the fact that this particular set of students have never before taken public exams as their GCSE's were cancelled due to the pandemic.
Malvern College said:
• 8% of grades were at A* compared to 5% in 2019
• 28% of grades were A*-A compared to 29% in 2019
• 60% of grades were A*-B compared to 58% in 2019
Three of the school’s pupils were also highlighted for special recognition by the OCR examination board for achieving particularly high grades.
Those pupils were:
• Lucy Underwood, who is planning to study photography
• Hector Mellor, who also plans to study photography
• Mwangi Mungai, who has multiple offers to study fine art at some of the world’s most prestigious art schools.
