似乎都係英制學校先有機會。兩間學校都係小學開始學？知唔知係咪會考igcse French (first language / second language)?

其实要睇你小朋友到中學時French是什么程度，如是學了比較短的時間，由零开始更可把基礎打好。當然如已到達A2程度就不應從零开始。但這樣要找到法文程度高的Y7中學，可能是没有的。

如果樓主自細學french去到Y7巳有A2 level想keep, 可能真係FIS先得，或自己出面學, 其他好多IS Y7雖然有french, 但的學生多數高小或Y7先開始，要就佢哋level, 唔知夠唔夠人開到再高stream.
我朋友自幼稚園自己學french, 入了GSIS Y7選了french(好似已經入了高D的stream) 佢都覺得太淺，之後索性轉返中文，繼續出面學french.
一般Y7先開始學都夠考IGCSE french.

Too many years ago, don't remember whether there were (and don't know whether there are) French+Spanish classes in Yr1-Yr5 at Harrow.  From Yr6 (Secondary School starts from Yr6 at Harrow), students have to opt for either French or Spanish but not both.  Yr10, have to confirm which i/GCSE subjects to sit.  For French, they will sit Edexcel iGCSE, which unlike Chinese, does not have the first language/second lanuage option.  Then they can choose French in GCE A-level.

I think iGCSE French is not very advanced.  

In the UK, universities do not require any qualification in a second language for admissions in general (of course, unless e.g. you want to major in a foreign language), because this would cause unfairness to some underprivileged groups, and often do not count a language subject at A-level as one A-level if that language is your mother-tongue.


You probably have to check FIS, CDNIS or GSIS, where they have to meet the need of the French-speaking people from their own countries.

正是。完成year 6 應該目標係有A2 level。但FIS 中學地點實在係非常遠… 想睇睇有冇其他options。

不過老實講我唔知A2實際係咩程度，如果到時唔學French （打左個底，之後有興趣再自己進修吧），或者轉學Spanish？

Spanish其實去英國讀中學有冇用㗎？我仔之前在學校學咗一年，佢有興趣，所以我比佢去私人班繼續，但係諗到要讀到year 9，都真係有排喎⋯⋯其實值唔值得繼續讀？

The French DELF A2 exam has three levels (Prim, Junior and Adult). Passed the junior level is about Edexcel IGCSE grade 5/6, and B1 is about grade 8/9. The Prim A2 is very basic which might low than the Junior A1.

一般A2level等如小學程度，IGCSE 外語約A2-B1 level. IB Lang B要求高些可去到B2.Lang A 就C1-2(proficient)
一般語言要夠工作水平通常起碼B2或以上。其實我識不少外國人有時傾開會話以前考過IGCSE french /German等，不過而家都差唔多唔記得哂

Hmm… I am no expert in this area but from what I have read, the standards of the same level (e.g. A2) in different DELF “versions” (prim, junior, adult) should be the same…?

The only difference is that the topics they use in different versions are different (more age appropriate)?

But thank you for bringing all these terms and exams up! I have absolutely no clue about IGCSE levels yet so I will have to do my research on that now (never thought I would have to start looking into that when my kid is not even 6 yet )

明白明白，IB呢個表好有用。我啱啱都開始揾緊CEFR 同igcse/IB level 對照… 我本身連IB language A/B HL/SL都未搞得清，頭都暈。我都冇諗過可以用英文嚟比較，一路執著喺揾法文。其實CEFR都幾好，可以對照晒唔同language嘅程度。

係呀，language 唔用就唔記得。我大學時都密集地日日上日文堂上左2年，當時都有一定程度，但而家我連介紹自己都有啲驚

I think the language levels are supposedly the same for DELF Prim A2, DELF Junior A2, and DELF for adults A2. It's just that the topics in the Prim and Junior versions are adapted to primary school kids and teenagers. A1, A2, etc are levels mapped to CEFR framework as mentioned in the above post.

一般大人學一個外語，估計需投入約150小時可達到A2, 讀寫還可以（靠記），但冇語境聽講真係好難。你講得啱從小有語境真係唔同境界，淨係個發音大個先學巳經冇可能學到。

My son took both Prim and Junion A2. The Delf official said that the three versions have the same standards mapped to CEFR but for different ages. Although all versions learn the same grammar structure, the contents, listening and speaking skills have big gaps between Prim and Junior versions as well as exam techniques. The certs are the same and you can't distinguish which version from the cert.
