If you know stand up comedies, you would know they need to relate to a lot of people to succeed. And that is also the irony.

How much he said was actually true in real life.   Unverified and unsourced “news” run from all social media platforms as if they are real, making people stupider.

If you hate China, then it's China's fault. If you hate Chinese, then it's Chinese fault. If you hate the government, then it's the government's fault. I know I couldn't help anything at this moment except to wear a mask when I'm out, and put it down together with my hatred when I'm back home.

That's not limited to the online world. We all used to heresay in the old days.....actually until nowadays. Don't we have people spreading "news" told by a neighbour's relatives's friend? What's the different except for speed?

Yes speed, 1 million times faster and that makes people dumber.  

Do you know how many fake news I receive each day on Whatsapp, FB etc. And people believe them and forward them?  Share them?  Or felt these “news” are creditable enough to forward them?  See something hit share button and send. A million times easier to share fake news.  Day in and day out people just believe them when lies are told time and again.  

I used to remind people in Whatsapp group to fact check before sharing.  Tell them why I think they are suspicious.  Then my wife reminded me doing this hurts friends and families feelings and make them feel dumb —- that was a real conversation.  

25 years ago overseas students needed to write physical letters and they took 2 weeks one way and a month at least to get a response from home.  Or pay 20 HK dollars per minute to speak over landline.  

In the last few days we FaceTime my daughter thousands of miles away with WiFi which is practically free.

Is this your new poem? It's so unscientific, unless you put "in your eyes" next to the word "fault". Then again, it doesn't stop and right the wrong.

Well, we're all bombard by millions pieces of info everyday. In the past, it was from TV or radio. It is all up to you if you want to screen out, ignore, take in or beware of those info. Eg. Kids are brainwashed by McDonald's ads, would you blame McDonald's, TV channel or the advertising agent? Personal responsibility I would say.

Why care to response to the poem logic while you said it's so unscientific? I only know that some facts are more scientific than the others, such as the lovely Yellow Economy Circle.

Morning Guys. It seems we can't sleep well.
I know it's dumb when things are so obvious but there are people keep yelling for flawless proof, direct evidence, etc.

其實,我十分惋惜香港同學們會接受很多虛假,自我的訊息．意識控制了判断．這情況,教育界要負相當責任．

由去年6月至9月開學前,我問細囝(大專), 好幾個月,你看到什么？
他說沒有, 我回應：那很好．

只有其中,路透社有遊行人数測試報告,
可能較準確監測人流．
我只分享這訊息．

我們已經是5G8K量子電腦時代．
點人数, 根本不難,

何苦做假？

Completely different.  TV and newspapers are different.

What goes on TV are regulated and their chances of being correct is much higher than a random message in Whatsapp or FB or Tweet.  Most TV news are proper journalism.  Compared to random author writing random things and share.  As long as the content is interesting, they will get shared.  Slowing people believe them when they see it time and time again.  

On ads, they cannot say things that are known to be untrue.  Again ads are regulated and Whatsapp messages have 0% regulation.  

That is not to say TV, newspaper and ads are always correct but the chances of them being correct are much higher than a random unsourced article. In fact, one way I used to tell people to do to verify a random message is to see how many independent reliable sources like proper TV/proper newspaper/official web site they can find that supports the story.

Ultimately it is personal responsibility of course.  But internet and social media help spread fake news so fast people started to become lazy and believe them.

Correct.

If you look at mature democratic countries, things are happening that are unthinkably stupid and partisan.  The president and the senators think their people are dummies.

They tweet, they FB and they rally and people started to believe.  

That is why I hate politics because it takes away people’s reasoning.  They form their views based on their colour, parties and personal benefits instead of reasoning and maintain a moral standard.  So ugly from both sides.  

I hate politics.

我以前會咁做，在WhatsApp谷裏提醒大家要過濾一下。解釋為何是假消息。但家中另一半提醒我，我咁樣講會令到其他親人不自在，令到其他人覺得自己好蠢，叫我唔好咁做。睇完就算。

另一半開到聲，我唯有遵從。

Have no explanation to the current situation. Why the hell on earth that our govt open wide the gate and let a influx of protentially contaminated mainlander into our already stressful medical system? And it is for free? No logical govt would have done that. Those are not tourists who swarm our theme parks and shopping malls but people might carry deadly virus. And why on earth that HK taxpayers are the one to be responsible for the bills? These are facts, not hearsay on the net, right?
