see a movie 係真係要“行”去個戲院,watch a movie 就真係靜止欣賞,所以會講 We are going to see a movie at the cinema 同 We are watching a movie in the cinema.

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/grammar/british-grammar/look-at-see-or-watch
Warning:

We use see, not watch, when we talk about being at sports matches or public performances, such as films, theatre and dramas. However, we watch the television:

We saw a wonderful new film last night. You’ll have to go and see it while it’s in the cinema.

  • We don’t use watch when referring to a film in the cinema:

A:

We’re going to the cinema tonight.

B:

What are you going to see? (Not: What are you going to watch?)

A:

I’m not sure. I really want to see the new Rocky movie but Nancy said she’s not interested in that.

Not: I really want to watch the new Rocky movie …

  • We use watch, not see, when we refer to something on the television:

At night, I like to watch the television.

呢度反而話去戲院睇戲see a movie正確,watch a movie係錯喎

例如早兩日又遇到書教 in the playground,但有本練習答案係 on the playground。咁係in定on呢,定at都得呢?

I want to see a movie 如果喺戲院內佢會答I'm watching this...。

如果話"watch" - usually sth that you look at for a period of time, 咁"look"本身都可以咁用。 I'll look/ have a look at this first thing tomorrow morning..." I had a look through...."
仲有look into sth more detailed/ looking into it in detail, looking for details...

I am watching a movie in the cinema。 即已强調專注睇(over a period of time) 呢個動作。

所以有網友話"watch" 係look at sth for a period of time, in general係合理, 即係我講強調坐定定去睇TV programmes/ sports games/ movies...

不過for a period of time又不限於Watch, "look"也可以,所以english usage好難用一兩句去概括解釋。

see 同 watch 都可以用,非常肯定係可以用 watch a movie。Cambridge 嘅 examples 並沒有 “watch a movie in the cinema” 呢個組合,只係 I really want to see the new Rocky movie。
例子:

A: Want to see Frozen 2 this weekend?
B: Why don't we do it at home?
A: Don't you want to watch it in the cinema?

"Of course, you do. Actors are fans as well. Going to watch Pet Sematary at the cinema really reminded me of how little I do that now — watch movies in the cinema — and I really enjoyed them as an audience member."

This percentage was lower than the 32 per cent of respondents who said that they preferred to watch movies in the cinema.

Teens are catered for with two separate clubs (for 12 to 14s and 15 to 17-year-olds) where they can chill out in their own lounge, watch movies in the cinema and dance the night away in the disco.

Or maybe it's just that the people who go to watch movies in the cinema are not the same as those who go to watch sport.

Doug Kramer built him and his family an entire movie room in their house and so they don't typically watch movies in the cinema like us muggles.

樓主遇到嘅題目應該係配對活動同地點,例如 buy food in the supermarket, read books in the library,如果佢用 see a movie in the cinema,當中 see a movie 已經包括去戲院呢個元素,唔會需要再提,否則就好累贅(正如你唔會講 I cook some noodles "in the kitchen"、I take a bath “in the bathroom”)。

We can go see the movie, or just stay at home and watch it on Netflix. But I would say watching movies in the cinema is a different experience from watching it at home.

Google Ngram 亦有數據,2000s 年代 watch a movie 呢個組合使用率 0.0000140%,see a movie 0.0000160%。
