your kids will need to be fluent in English and good social skills. Top private schools look for both academics and personal experience, they look into students who can present themselves during interview/assessment. And most TOP schools need SSAT as an entrance exam. Yes, Top private schools has a number of Chinese students from mainland and they mostly were born in Canada and limited students who's parents are from HK>

唔知有無網友聽過基督教 Luther College (係 Saskatchewan)? 呢間好似對學生學術都幾有要求唔 hea 咁, 而見佢 Tuition Fees & Dorm 廿幾萬港幣, 比起其他加拿大 boarding school 平啲, 唔知有無 JM 認識呢間學校?

惟一令我擔心 ESL program 要一級一級咁 pass及額外ESL學費用都貴貴地 (Intermediate & Advanced Level), 某級ESL 唔 pass 要 repeat 而呢樣野又會延長畢業年期.. 另外, Saskatchewan 呢個省係咪比較少人去讀書? 好偏僻?

All students who test at the Intermediate level are registered in grade 9. Intermediate level students will have to successfully complete four years of study (starting in grade 9 regardless of equivalent credits) to eligible to graduate from Luther College High School. This grade level could be adjusted (if appropriate) when the student completes the requirements for Intermediate Level ESL.

ESL students who test at an Advanced ESL level will be limited to grade 9 (and 10 classes) and it should be understood that students in advanced ESL level should plan to spend four years to complete their ESL levels and their high school diploma. Most of the students at this level will be registered in a grade nine English class to experience the expectations in the humanities classes at Luther College.

What subjects will my child study while at Luther?
Foundations – Students at this level are encouraged to take Math, Art, Drama, Music, Wellness and Drama. Students will not be registered for humanities classes at this level. Humanities classes include English, History, and Christian Ethics. Students will also not be able to study Science or any other modern language course.

Advanced – Students are enrolled in English 9 classes, as well as several Science, Math and Arts options. However, they are not be permitted to study other humanities classes at this level. These include History, Christian Ethics, and a language other than Latin.

High-Level - Students at this level are registered to study English and Christian Ethics. Students may be registered in a maximum of two humanities classes while studying Higher Level ESL with no more than one class in each subject. In exceptional cases, students may be allowed to also register for History in addition to Christian Ethics and English (this typically happens when a student must repeat High Level). For a student to be eligible, all of the teachers this student had the previous semester must agree they have exceptional motivation. In such situations, the student may be allowed to add the third humanities class.

Students in our program are generally limited to two Humanities classes and are not allowed to enrol in two courses of English simultaneously with a language other than English (i.e. Latin, French, and German).

就係我見呢間 "學術好有要求", 於我而言我會比較放心我女機會大畢到業及考到大學嘛.

因為我見公立學校, Ranking 好前嘅 Diploma completion rate: 9X% 例如: Ranking 49/262

如果G12 唔能夠攞晒 credit 完成G12 高中係咪咁樣畢唔到業?

另外, EK 爬舊文, 有前輩網友分享過國際留學生係公立學校 G11/G12 畢業前一定要順利離開 ESL班, 否則又係中學唔夠 credit 高中畢唔到業. 唔知我有無理解錯? 但係學生有無得唔洗再上 ESL班學生好被動, 呢樣野令我有少少擔心阿女 hea 讀又唔知呢樣野會影響佢畢唔畢到業!

所以,我見嗰間 boarding school 明碼實價清楚寫明 ESL 唔同程度嘅收費以及寫明唔同程度要讀幾多年才畢業, 咁樣, 作為父母有預算要預幾多 budget 嘛. 而作為學生, 亦有清楚指引及目標去 meet target 去完每一個階段嘅要求嘛

後記 : 最後係2020年1月申請咗 Luther College 及做咗 ESL test, ESL Test 結果係要 One semster Advanced Level, One semster Higher Level, 學校亦確定阿女呢個 ESL 结果要讀 4 年 High School (今年S3, 原本打算S4 去加拿大讀 High School G10, 正常係讀 3 年) 才能完成 High School, 所以最後都係决定不去呢間讀(out of budget)

之前 EK 爬文唔少網友分享加拿私立寄宿中學好貴, 同英國寄宿學校價錢不相伯仲 (要加幣~6萬一年即係~36萬港幣) .

而如果價錢平嘅加拿大寄宿中學 EK前輩網友 comment 多香港人及非洲人 (可能呢啲寄宿學校就係香港 agent 代理及經常 sales 嗰幾間). 但我呢幾日係網上不斷做資料搜集, 發現其實都有廿鬆萬嘅寄宿學校而係少香港人及非洲人, 共通點呢啲寄宿中學香港 agent 無咩特別代理, 所以香港 agent 唔會 sales, 但呢啲學校仍有少量香港人就讀.

真係要好花心機時間去搵。我之前主要睇ontario, 因佢天氣都算唔錯。如果考慮saskatchewan或者alberta這些較北的省份，我自己擔心小朋友夠唔夠tough(可能係多慮嘅), 我見沙省有半年係會落雪，諗起都驚。

我最最最最擔心係 homestay 及治安, 始終我嗰個係女, 真係好唔放心 homestay.

天氣, 如果住宿舍會係學校附近(on campus) 我就無咁擔心. 反而 homestay 冰天雪地行路或等/搭車返學我仲心痛及擔心. 另外,  homestay 嘅 lunch 唔知係咪俾三文治之類帶返學, 學校 hot lunch 唔知係咪又係只得一日, 驚阿女唔夠食, 天氣凍食唔飽身體又會唔夠暖.... 我好多野諗及擔心

如果接受得到天氣，似乎Luther又幾啱你嘅要求喎(價錢，成績，有宿舍),  我見佢lunch menu仲每日都有熱食添。

好欣賞樓主經常搜集不同留學的資料，但其實看完你的考慮因素之後，不明白點解不選擇留在香港讀ib school? 如真道、啟思等呢? 甚至可在F4後報考UWCLPC?在香港的學費和雜費一定比外國便宜。

你又 Alberta 又 Saskachewan ，有冇親友在當地？Toronto 附近兩三小時的 Town (eg London, Kingston, Hamilton etc) ，有些香港人也唔慣呀。
始終加拿大冬天又灰又凍，除非住在大城市，否則真係可以好靜，有家人在身邊還好，如果自己一個，可能唔開心。香港人，始終未必慣太靜。
有冇考慮 Vancouver ？天氣冇咁冷。
如果出國，正如網友建議，試埋 UWC。
都要考慮下，將來去邊讀大學，甚至畢業後出路。
Ontario 的大學多，Toronto 工作機會多，但樓價租金也貴。

其實, 係我一直以來心結想搵加拿大價錢可負擔嘅 boarding school, 一直以來我所搵嘅加拿大排名高嘅公校都係 homestay, 所以我由始至終唔係好想阿女去加拿大中學留學, 想佢去其他國家讀 boarding school

因為紐西蘭/愛爾蘭/日本/星加坡等國家我搵到最少一間價錢十幾廿鬆萬而成績唔錯嘅 boarding school 阿女可以試報讀, 但主人翁仍然好有主見好堅持想去加拿大, 尋晚問佢佢答仍然係加拿大, 其他國家佢唔係好想去. 而加拿大公校學費 + homestay ~13萬 一年, 連埋機票及雜費十幾萬頂盡廿萬一定夠, 呢個價錢又真係超級勁吸引. 另外現實啲, 我都想中學費用平啲, 咁如果阿女日後係外國讀大學唔怕唔夠錢供佢, 外國讀大學~三十幾萬, 讀3年已經要過百萬了.

最後要滿足晒我及阿女最基本要求:
我    :  $$ 銀紙非常有限 + 最好最好係基督教學校 + 畢業率高 + 多學生畢業後入大學
阿女 : 加拿大

符合以上條件就得出我之前所最後決定嗰啲學校了.

前兩日, 我有俾阿女睇嗰間公校 FB 相, 前日啲學生已經著到成個糭咁, 我又講過嗰個地方冬天-3XC 並且冬天係歷時~半年, 阿女依家係香港咩野都話OK 無問題, 唔洗擔心喎
