據我所知, 大部分top scorer 是原校直上的, 其實原校直上較容易適應. 至於為什麼ib 程度高dse 一大段距離, 就等於為什麼dse 較HK a level 差一大段距離。 dse 的analytical skills 高了, 但在傳統subject 如science 和maths 卻倒退了1 至2 年(vs. HK a level, uk a level, and ib). 寫essay 科目更 分別大, year 6 要自己prepare notes on subjects like science, experiments etc. Etc..., there is no comparison...The gap is just very wide ahead of local schools, and even i was surprised, and many parents of our school didn’t realise till year 6.... the majority of local school parents still have this perception that local school syllabus are more advanced. no doubt, I agree at school there is not as much pressure on kids to perform well but that changes by about year 5 or 6. 也可以看grade mapping. Again 5** is equivalent to a*. 5 is an A, 4 is a C, 3 is a D. Or 7 / 6 / 5 / around 3.33 for ib. And then you look at the percentage achieving 5** / 5 / 4 / 3 vs. a* / a / c / e vs. 7 / 6 / 5 / no such thing as 3.33.... the numbers are as follows on a cumulative basis
HK dse - below 2pc for core subjects / 14 for maths, 10 for others / 40 / 60 to 70
Uk a level - 8 / 26 / 77 / 98
ib - 7.5 / 28 / 56 / between 80 to 94
So only 2 conclusions here. Either 1) HK students are not as smart as a group.... which I find hard to believe, or 2) the stuff HK dse kids are learnings are not or not considered to be as advanced from academic point of view, and this just has to be the case. If you still not convinced compared the best schools in HK vs. Best in the uk and look at the percentages scoring a* vs, 5**, a vs. 5 etc for say dgs vs haberdashers boys, dgs pc were 17 / 65, hab boys was 44 / 81. So there you go, no match at all, either HK schools are far inferior or the system is wrong and the stuffs they learning are not only easier but the grades are considered to be inflated in HK.
