請問普遍要補習嗎？

"我細佬30年前讀 IB冇監督、支援下都叫考到可以向自己交代既成績，今日可以嗎？"

請問你為何決定 "積極＂參與＂?


是孩子性格, 還是課程需要?


因為你提到的參與, 不是位位家長可做到吧?

謝分享。因為我本身local school 畢業經歷考CE考AL入大學, 是好typical的local family, 大女local名校, 我地好識點樣教佢讀書, 佢成績也好好。 細仔想比佢入國際學校, 因喜歡IS培養小朋友思辨、表達、自主的學習態度, 但我好怕自己比唔到support子女, 令到佢會同其他同學有好大差距。

過去兩年，亞女讀寄宿lB學校，莫講話積極參與，就連佢星期日返唔返屋企食飯都好被動。

今年4、5月，正當別人的孩子好努力地為lB考試凖備，佢間學校就有好多Yr2學生用左好多時間學習舞龍舞獅及凖備5月尾的畢業表演，有D男仔仲同其他學校備戰球賽，好多人都沒有把學業視為人生的唯一
“Academic is not my only priority”,聽完之後都無野好講。

當香港越來越多學校辦IBDP之後，本質上IB的遊戲玩法改變了。其他學校的IB學生都在追逐滿分、取易捨難, 有些學校只提供有限度的科目選擇，甚至變得像工廠倒模一樣；CAS也只是做完就算，無乜反思。

但LPC依舊行較「IB化」條路，因此分數成績被追過是正常事；始終是選擇了不同方向。

想問，學生又會否以美國大學為目標，所以五月的公開試其實不是重點？

報讀美國的大學，部分學生會在三、四月前收到Unconditional Offer. 意思即是只要考試成績(IB DP或其他)合格就可以了。所以如果學生收到了心儀大學取錄，考試就輕鬆多了。另外，美國同英國的頂尖大學收生，分數不是唯一條件，國際學校多數會有專門𨍭導報讀大學的團隊。當你的子女去到Grade 9/10左右就開始收到有關資訊的。
幾年前有人說LPC是香港最好的IB學校，但他只提供IB DP(即最後二年的高中)課程，如果你希望孩子早點開始IB式學習，就要另覓學校了。

I also think it's a bit low compared to last year. Maybe the main reason is at least 2 of them not passed which pulled down the average mark!

我覺得直到現在LPC都是很好的IB學校。有朋友說這學校比入HKU更難。

Not quite the case.... both dbs and spcc only the best students can take ib and the rest all under dse stream... if you t are the top 40 percent of any of the intl schools like Gsis, fis, or even cky and vsa etc the average would have been higher at 42. Clearly international schools are better. I have compared both syllabus and by year 6-7, ib is already a year to 2 more advanced than local elite like spcc or dbs... so no doubt they better prepared by the dp stage to do better.

Cky clearly better than spcc and dbs - you have to take out the bottom 20 or 30pc of cky to make a like for like comparison. Look at dbs dse batch, many can’t even make the minimum pass mark. Pass rate for the majority of international schools is 100pc. Guess you only have to take a look at what the ib school kids are learning or doing by year 6-7-8 to understand why there appears to be quite a gap in terms of the standard, especially in science subjects at least a year to 2 slower than ib. The adoption of dse has certainly dragged down all the local elite schools even for the earlier years... take a look at the dse grade mapping versus uk a level... 5** is A*, 5 is A believe for core subjects... and then compare the percentage of 5** vs A*, 5 vs A.... then it is apparent that DSE is effectively a year below uk gce, while ib is more advanced than uk gce... all these local elite schools like spcc and dbs are switching to ib too late in secondary school and hence is having to make a major catch up within 3 years, so no doubt their grades are not as good if adjusted for the less capable dse students.

Those from local elite schools their standard are usually lower and hence have had to catch up a bit. Results usually higher for those who have been staying at ib all along.

Are you sure ukgce is easier than ib? Did you really take a look on maths , physics , Chem and biology ?

It sounds odd to me as most IB school still follow IGCSE then IB. How could their standard be ahead of local school ( well IGCSE is quite easy though) for 2 years?!
