Study abroad opportunities
Second and third year undergraduates are eligible to apply to study for one or more semesters (usually a whole academic year) in certain other European psychology schools, with travel, and, where appropriate, some subsistence funding provided by the EU Erasmus fund. There are no basic course charges to be paid abroad. Assessment is carried out in the host (i.e., international) institution and is accepted by Trinity as if students were examined here. The School of Psychology has bilateral agreements with several European universities, including the University of Helsinki, Freie Universität Berlin, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Université Paris V.

Financial information
Studying overseas as part of your Trinity degree can be an amazing experience, but it can also involve costs you need to budget for. Students going on exchange to Asia are eligible for the Provost’s Asian Travel Bursary and many students are eligible for Erasmus+ grants to help offset the expense of studying abroad, but you will need to budget for the following costs:
•Airfare
•Potential visa charges
•Health and travel insurance (all students must carry adequate insurance – some universities, particularly in North America, require visiting students to take out their on-campus medical insurance policy)
•Vaccinations, if needed!
•Medical checkups
•Accommodation costs (these are often lower than in Dublin, but can vary considerably)
•Living costs (Some countries may require you to satisfy you have access to a certain amount of funding before you can have a visa approved)
•Bedding packs (cheaper to buy in-country than to try and transport a duvet cover along with your favourite teddy-bear)
•Food (do you plan on eating a lot?
•Books (these can cost considerably more in some countries
•Local transport (e.g. will you take public transport, walk, buy a bike?)
•Whether or not you’re legally allowed to work in the new country when you’re on exchange?

Trinity has collaborations with some of the world's leading universities. For Trinity students, this means access to a network of more than 300 exchange opportunities across the globe. How you apply can change depending on where you wish to go, there are a wide variety of opportunities to explore.
Students successful in earning an exchange placement register in Trinity as usual for the relevant period, and as a result do not pay additional tuition to these leading universities worldwide, whether in Holland or Hong Kong!
Trinity students go to leading universities in these countries every year, as well as across Europe and even further afield – maybe you'll have an opportunity to spend a semester or a year in Singapore, China, or Australia!
