有好多老牌傳統名校中英並重仍做得唔錯。

In fact one can see from university admission statistics where did the best students go for their high school education. it is different from the days when those celebrities graduated.

吳靄儀年代，像她那樣入到HKU的是精英中的精英，未必反映學校整體水平。

而且年代唔同了，依家唔知，但我嗰軰(大約廿年前會考)名校畢業生，英文唔掂的同學大有人在。

呢版不乏傳統名校出身嘅家長，自己見識過所謂神校，對其完全沒有幻想，只想俾子女接受(我哋相信係更好嘅)IS教育。

的確，我哋上一輩，八十年代嘅普通香港生意人，即使得初中學歷嘅英文都講得吓。

想當年（也是差不多20年前），傳統名校考第一，CE AL 加埋10支火箭。

現在回想都只覺得自己浪費了光陰，世界觀太狹窄了。

差左咩，我覺得好左喎，我地小一先I am Mary you are John, 而家K1/2已識，又考Cambridge又phonics又drama

因為強制母語教學，大大降低學生使用英語的機會，英文水平不下降才怪。

但現今花在學習英文資源多了x 倍，效果不成比例，我公司要求畢業生申請人寫一小篇英文，好多時嚇親。想當年我預科畢業申請工都要作文，肯定好D

It might be a matter of timing.
Those who are graduating from university today are the ones born around 1997, a time when every man and his dog in Hongkong thought Chinese was going to be of paramount importance.

It is only fairly recently that people started to renew their interest in English and if you assess young children today their English is reasonably good, but they won't be entering the workforce until 10 to 15 years later.

而家外國人嫌IS貴，既然有免費教育仲可以順便學埋廣東話或者普通話，一舉兩得，愈來愈多走去讀LS.. 相反，中國人香港人愈來愈有米，全部去曬讀IS或者英文學校。好有趣嘅現象！

是，你見不少現在港大或中大那些所謂大學生的言行便知..

同意。樓下一起玩的一些LS kids英文口語溝通都還不錯（當然寶校除外），他們這一代長大後英文水平會比現在出社會的幾屆畢業生好很多。

但D外國人讀local都是hea讀，他們不怕被派去中中，而且中學仲隨時可轉IS（實收佢地）/回國。
講番IS尤其新校, 如果收太多local維持不到playground language 是native English 也會是一個問題。
