當手機八核CPU，6GB RAM 係好普通的時候，當 GoPro 可以4K video 加 software image stabilization, code  ...

對user application嚟講, code efficiency可能係多餘, 尤其依家既CPU, RAM, Harddisk比以前平好多

但對backend operation, code efficiency依然重要.

好多好似好low end好落後既嘢, 實際上因為無乜新人識或者願意接手, 所以更加吃香 (不過唔係香港會發生既事)

Lagacy systems 梗有㗎，但依家軟件業，絶大部分寫比PC，Mac，iOS and Android，和 game consoles。呢D唔會理 code efficiency。慢慢鬥 Assembly, 不如快D完成。

Assembly Language is still used at least in the following areas

Building device drivers
Debugging
Reverse Engineering
Security research
Performance optimization (the main purpose is not code optimization)
Building Compilers
Writing Operating Systems

Why do people still study Latin? I think the purpose is not to write Latin or use it to communicate. However, assembly language is still alive.

Of course Assembly is alive, just as Nokia phones are alive. Just nobody cares.

Out of 1000 lines of code written today, I doubt one line of code is in Assembly. It wasn't a main language in the past and it is not relevant as a main language now.

Also, device drivers programs can call OS APIs in modern days.

Yes, but I can imagine the feeling of working with a "dead" platform and hang my career on it.
