We like the diversity of students that the school shows and also the impression their teachers gave us during school visit. The only consideration that we had was about their campus and whether there will be any changes in the coming years which may affect their current students.

Just my own opinion.

We moved from ESF to NAIS last year.  Cannot be more satisfied with the way they delivered the curriculum, the quality of teaching, the pastoral care and the facilities.  The Lam Tin campus is admittedly small but this is not our top priority.  The small campus has more than everything it takes for educating my kid.   The teachers know my kid very well and is able to adapt their style to suit individual learner.  So far, I consider myself to be a happy customer .

It's a personal decision and I can say that I am not the only one.  I personally prefer UK curriculum at an early stage after experiencing IB for few years.  I think that's more suitable for my little one at this stage.  Anyways, my experience with ESF school was just so so.  It was not in line with my expectation in terms of the value of money (after the subventions were lifted), quality of teaching, attention to individual student and diversity of students.

Would you mind to share a bit more?
My son is studying in ESF K1 now. We just switched from Victoria but I found the same issues as you in ESF, like diversity in school, teachers attention to each kid, etc. It’s a bit frustrated for me and out of my expectation and makes me think “is it a right decision to switch him from Vic to ESF?” Now I’m thinking about his pathway to Primary and I hope it’s not too late to decide again!
Hope that you don’t mind to share a bit more on your experience. Million Thanks!!

Switching to ESF kinder you need to know what you want, frankly it’s for its priority to primary right? Concerning kinder life, it’s kind of free ranging play based and you can’t expect structured learning like Victoria and other British curriculum kinder. For the primary you better understand the IB style of ESF primary too before you step in. Nevertheless many ESF kids will take maths and English writing tutorials outside, not to mention Chinese tutorials. For children mix, yes it got more and more local students now, actually I believe most of the newly opened IS will compose of mainly local students. My friend teaching in ESF primary told me they still want to accept more international students but they are not as attractive to them compared to others.

You’re right! Its priority to ESF Primary is the thing that attracted me to switch from Victoria during the mid term. But the few months experience in ESF kinder makes me hesitated with the school and am thinking about if I should continue with this school for primary though my son feels very happy with the school. How could I actually know if IB is suitable for my kid? At this early stage of Kinder?
Sorry, my apologies for diverting the topic but this is the exact concern I have now.

We were very lucky that we got offers from a few schools including GSIS, Kellet and NAIS when we considered moving out from ESF.  As we intended to send my girl to UK boarding school at around year 9, I wanted her to have more Chinese learning before leaving HK. NAIS is more suitable for us in that sense.   Apart from that, I also considered the school's offerings on all-rounded development for students.  I would say NAIS offers a better art curriculum and my girl has strong interest in art.

Harrow is never our choice because my hubby graduated from Harrow UK and ironically he hated the school (for being too restrictive).

User, customer, client, stakeholder....whatever you name it.  I don't give a fuss.  It is just a word to describe the service provider providing educational services to your kid.  After all, we all need to pay for the schooling.

Kellet is great British school but to us NAIS is more international and their Chinese program is better.  That's the reason why we prefer NAIS.  We were impressed by school tours by a number of schools but ultimately have to pick one that seems to be more suitable for our needs.

It’s good you pick your school according to what you want not just by the reputation or how other people’s view of the school.
