IB課程LANGUAGE 選項問題

想請教，如果小朋友成績一般，讀IB好定ALevel?如果A level 最深 ...

其實一個個人，有些人反而覺得IB難過A level, 專登去英國考A level。

If it states English language without mentioning A or B, does it mean either ?
As I have seen some do mention English A

我覺得無寫的即係無特別要求A或B。

如果冇記錯，HKU CUHK 醫科 admission  requirement  都冇話要識廣東話，但有些科有要求（pharmacy  & nursing 有，好似) 。


而且大學也有 interview 學生，其中 HKU 甚至去外國 interview 學生 ( 可以上外國 forum 看，很多人東南亞地區學生，表明是來 HKU 為個學位然後回國，畢業後根本不會留香港服務，今年年早己在 Hong Kong non-jupas 出 offer 前收了幾個這種學生），大學也有責任，肯定學生了解香港，和識廣東話。

I think chinese has always been only one of the queries.

可以當lS學生有的是西方文化。物以類聚，在那間大學，那個地區也一樣普遍。

Note that this is only minimum requirement. So the outcome is subject to competition.

I know there are lots of Chinese B students taken by HKU and CUHK.

I do think they take into consideration of the background of that particular student.
So not everyone can take Chinese B (this has to be approved by IB school), and not everyone can get admission to university with Chinese B (universities would look at the background of the student to see if they would doubt whether a student should belong to Chinese B).
I tend to trust the judgement of CKY and if kyliema2006's child can take Chinese B at CKY, then he should qualify to this class.
However, it does not mean it would work for everyone at CKY.

因為IB要讀三科SL、三科HL（應該無其他選擇吧？例如四科HL二科SL），所以如果選定了Language B（不管中文或英文），就只能讀HL，就只能剩番二科HL可以選了，所以最後也影響全局選科（SL／HL）決定。

如有錯誤，請賜教。

I know someone from UK. UK born chinese, speaks very little cantonese, but cannot read chinese at all. He has no problem with blending in with his uni friends at CUHK LLB program. While some local IS kids with very similar background but raised in Hong Kong have huge issues with blending in. What do you think is the problem with local IS kids?

Yes.
Students can take 4 HL.
Universities not only look at grades, they also look at which 3 HLs students take.
If you take Chinese B HL, then it means there are probably only 2 HLs relevant to your program of interest.
So it is best you take 3 more HLs so as to remain competitive as most programs would not consider Chinese B HL a relevant HL subject.

Thank you for putting this link here.
I think this has been shared in the past in other topics and many parents are aware of this.
It is good you put this up for reference for parents with younger kids.

The problem with this table is that it can be quite misleading if parents/students do not understand the admission process.
These are only minimum requirement. And following the lowest boundary would probably not get you into the program you like.

四五年前聽中大介紹也要求可聽講廣東話，可能政策变了
