ESF island school 有來往將軍澳區的校車服務嗎？

Will the transition/ adjustment of so many kids from different systems and learning style (also coming from families with different expectation and experience with international school systems) affect the normal functionality of the classroom or teaching?
I am taking about the unusual number of local students joining (or this is not usual at all?)
Any thoughts?
Please please don't take it personal that this is a negative or unwanted comments. It may also be well good when the local students' more diligent approach can benefit the school as well. Just a discussion.

They will probably spend a nice sum in the renovation since the decant sites are old. Yet, don't over expect too much as these are temp sites anyway.

The turnover rate of students of island school maintain at a level of 10% every year . Students come and go. With the decant campus maybe more students switch to other schools under the ESF umbrella.
For those transferring from local school , they are mainly coming from elite secondary school or primary school. Namely la sale, maryknoll and even DGS.

I guess no doubt these students are mostly with very high academic achievement, I was in fact thinking about the "different learning style" of those students, certainly not in a negative way, but wonder if the transition may affect the normal functionality of the classroom or teaching (IF a big proportion of them in the class are from local schools)

How big portion would it be? Like what I said , the normal turnover rate is 10%, if the decant campus issue makes it double. It's only 20%. About 6 out of 30 in a class. I don't see it very big.

True... that may be so.
Is your child currently with Island School?
We are in the Mid Levels, so with the Island School catchment, but we are kind of thinking the travel time (hopefully no delay in moving back to Mid Levels) would be the hurdle.
The local students thing is merely a thought spun up from some of the posts here, not much of our concern from the moment we thought about which ESF School in the island we wish to go to, hence planning carefully with our residential address.

Yes my girl is currently with IS. She was from an English medium school and had been with IS for 3 years. From what I have seen, she and some of the local school students settling in IS very well.

Having seen recent threads and talked with my friend who has a son studying at Yew Chung last year applied Y7 and accepted. They are living in Shatin areas and no trouble in getting to decant school. He didn't see local students joined the interview. Rather he saw some foreign students from Island Christian Academy and pupils from Indian background. ESF used native English test to evaluate Y7 candidates' English fluency and proficiency. The entrance test is not easy for local students or students' mother tongue is not in English. If local students could pass both written and oral, this means his /her English meets ESF standard. Some local students are very strong in academic and they should settle in IS and get used to speak in English quickly.

As for decant schools, my friend worried how the existing House Systems operate between two decant schools. The existing principal responded to parents in School interview that ESF shall closely monitor it and will increase staffing level and other resources to make sure the operation of two decant schools smoothly.  Also questions such as whether island futures and island time will remain are my friend's concern. The new principal is just on board and knowing he has caring heart and quite famous in Australia in the field of IB education system. Don't worry and everyone should have confidence in ESF and their child. Hope the hurdle of commuting school can be settled.

教育局計畫把新翠邨的前沙田崇真中學及博康邨的前港九潮州公會馬松深中學空置校舍，暫借予港島中學作臨時校舍，學校先安排學生在明年第三季開始在臨時校舍上課，重建撥款工程若順利得到立法會財委會批准，最快明年八月開始重建，二一年第三季竣工。

英基發言人表示，校方計畫將學生分為兩批，安排在兩座校舍上課，其中第七、八、十二及十三班學生集中在其中一個校舍，第九至十一班則在另一校舍上課。至於學生上學的交通安排，校方將進行諮詢，視乎需要再決定點對點及中央接送校車的數量。

The latest news as of yesterday is , touch on renovation will undergo at two temp campus from now. Moving will take place in Christmas break and new school will start in Jan 2018.

二一年第三季竣工 means mostly likely can move back on 2022, 5 years from now. many students perhaps not able to see the new campus

The Y9 students (after summer holiday) will be lucky if they get back to their rebuilt school before their graduation.
