Change in application policy for ESF

Yes , this is what I got in the phone conversation.

So i guess the main drawback of the new system for ESF KG kids is 一試定生死. The odds of someone with priority who passes the assessment NOT getting in due to oversubscription is not lower when compared to the old system?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

PIS is more selective. Maybe I should call them again to make this point clearer.

So, it is very critical if schools arrange visits to esf kindergartens prior to the actual interview. The lady in phone couldn't confirm me on this.

If PIS is more selective, I believe all the applicants will apply foundation school instead of PIS so that to secure a higher passing rate? Unless you are very confident in your kid has a high academic level which could pass the interview from PIS?

It seems to me the RC admission officer and esf admission office have said something different for certain questions.

Maybe I should call RC admission as well.

By logical thinking, as each student would only have 1 chance and 1 offer within the ESF system. It is much more likely those who have offers would accept, thus it would be less likely that the waiting list candidates would be able to get the places eventually.
It's more crucial to get the NR then for the ones who have passed the interviews but still waiting for the offers.

Logical thinking who initiate this new system is in favor RC to be more selective on ppl who are putting it as first choice.

I wonder will RC admit a 2nd choice ESF kids OR a first choice non-ESF kids when both pass their interview??

Priority policy apply on "interview" priority, is it also apply to "admission" policy?? I doubt...if anyone can ask RC...but not sure if RC will reply on this...

This policy is sure not in favor of esf kids..unless they can clarify all these points

I notice in the FB of RC that processing og applications for year 2 onwards will be changed to align with ESF, see below quoted from FB:

"Applications for Y1 & Y7) will also be launched in the summer of 2017. That is to say, applications for RCHK (Y2 to Y6 and Y8 to Y12) will become open all year round as of the ESF's.
Please note that this means we can no longer assess almost all applicants (non-Central) as we strive to do now (when we limit the number). We will have to adapt the (ESF's) first come first served approach and may assess a smaller number of applicants only when needed, based on the actual attrition of each year group. i.e. The wait-list will be shorter so as not to dampen the applicant's opportunity with other schools of their preference."

It seems there is a slim chance that RC may adopt similar procedure for year 1 as the esf foundation schools, and if so, that would be good news for esf kinder students. We shall see.
