My kid is taking esf kindergarten,we possibly take an offer from Harrow Year 1 and guaranteed place for interview notice from BHS, and Rc interview will be conducted on Jan.

May I hv opinion on the differences and style between these schools?

What will you guys recommend ?

Is it 5 M debenture? I won't spend that fortune if I can have ESF/RC honestly, but distance and traffic for Harrow is also a problem for me too.

I will prefer ESF, cuz Harrow is not IB school, it's still IGCSE? I like IB cuz it's more internationally welcome nowadays! Harrow is only has reputation of how expensive it is, it's a label of rich people, but I don't need that, I'm a more practical person even I can pay that $5m debenture and ongoing expenses there, I only do good for my kid, not do good for myself!

My kid is taking esf kindergarten,  we got an offer from Harrow Year 1 and guaranteed place of inter ...

Personally opt for IB: BHS with small school environment .... RC if you like bigger school and better Chinese.

Harrow ... from my observation ,most of their student in lower form are from mainland . It is a good pick to go if you need connection for your own business. For education , I will vote for other IS.

About 因材施教?I think most school can do. For this , you might consider BHS as a small school.

PS: That 5mil debentures only for kindergarten , not necessarily for year 1 and above.

Hope it helps

Initially, I hv the same thought that it is a highly expensive school with a lot of affordable mainlanders.

Two months ago, I incidentally joined the school tour at harrow, fm my observation , over 60-70% students are non-Chinese. The tour was held over 2 and a half hour with super friendly and responsible introduction even though they hv limited spaces to provide for new comers. Students are highly disciplined and proactive to learn during the lesson. The fee is kind of similar to other international school like Hkis, Ycis. Debenture is not compulsory too. The overall impression is like a famous traditional school with good academic n discipline but focus on English teaching.

The big difference I saw fm harrow is they focus on old traditional values like ( 1st academy , 2nd discipline) esf and rc are more hands off, they good at unleash students potential instead of study only. Students seem to be more enjoyable in esf. Anymore diff bhs n rc?

If you can afford, definitely Harrow. It's like comparing a private school and public school in the U.K.

A bit off topic, its actually quite funny/confusing that in the English and Wales, Harrow/Eton etc….all the expensive schools are actually referred to as "public school". While schools that don't charge a fee is referred to as 'state school', and selective state school is often called "grammar school"

and "prep school" is often used for secondary schools...

Most people I know will choose Harrow, if you take away the cost and distance factors, given it is so much more resourceful, has excellent hardware, and better quality (and much higher paid) teachers.

Also, it is very disturbing to see people still spreading incorrect fact that the school, in particular, the lower forms are filled with lots of mainlanders. In fact the lower forms have a high proportion of Caucasians, a factor those mainland haters love so much.
I am not with Harrow but know quite a few there.
