If the smart kid has chance to interview. The answer is YES. that answer can apply to a lot of famous schools.

In the admission briefing in Aug, the staff said KJS issued 150 guaranteed place interview letters and 50 reserve place letter in first round. Then, they issue another 10 letters in subsequent rounds. That mean the chance for reserve  list in first round was very high last year. This year, no one knows.

Not quite true. If both get through the passing line (I heard that would be about half or more of those interviewed ), the deciding factor is the priority group and then the random number. It doesn't matter who is better.

If both esf and non esf applicants passed guaranteed interview, u mean the priority and random number still apply on deciding who will get the offer?

They will first consider candidates with priority. You can call admission centre for further information.

Yes. But kids of staff, NR Nominees, former students, siblings and alumni do have higher priority than current students.

Congrat to all of you who get an interview offered... I am in catagory 3-waitlist, QBS.

I can't really understand their interview logic, as in the email they mentioned only 2250 candidates are competiting 1000 Yr1 seats.  And we all know some popular kinder could have 10+ kids competing for one K1 seat.  Right?  But at least they would offer a chance for interview.  (so sad...)

By the way, any cases where waitlist candidatse eventually get a seat in QBS last year?  Thanks Thanks.

do you mean that even both students ESF and non ESF passed. ESF is base on priority to chose passed students?

I just thought that priority for interview chance only....

their interview is non-comparable to other schools'. All ESF foundation schools are non-selective schools, those who are called for an interview with a guaranteed seat can get an offer if they pass the English assessment. They are not picking the best out of a pool of interviewees. Hence what you need most is simply a chance for an interview instead of having your child being the most competitive one to win others.

Last year, I heard a certain percentage of Esf wks students were not given an interview opportunity for SJS ( some of them applied RC and got the interview chance) . So, can I assume that those applicants without higher priority ( NR holder, children of staff, having sibling in Esf, any parent is Esf alumni) will not get a chance?

This is because last year WKS ESF K2 had 8 classes, but this year K2 has only 6 classes, so less competitive than last year.  For next year K2, will be another tough year.

In fact, some kids in wks Esf , their zone area belong to beacon hill or kjs. I understand that 8 classes vs 6 classes may make some difference but many unknown variables. I just want to clarify if it is the fact that even for Esf kinder kids do not secure an interview chance ( on wait list and no chance for interview ) , kids in other local kinders with no higher priority shouldn't have no chance, right ?

Yes , right My son was the case you mentioned ... but study in Esf kindergarten,even no interview but at the end , somehow they can offer student to get a seat with few vacancy from  other Esf school  ( out of the zone) ... I think still have such priority...

I think for this year, non-ESF kinder with no other priority will have no chance to get into SJS, BHS and KJS.
Also the strange thing this year is that it seems from the samples I have (ie other kids from TY kinder), it seems those applying BHS has largest percentage of getting a reserved seat interview, quite the opposite of previous years.

That is, this year, BHS most difficult to get in, then KJS then SJS, the exact reverse of usual trend!

Next yr will be reversed, cuz WKS will have 4 classes instead of three classes this year
