ESF year 1 interview notification

Does anyone know how do they decide who is given a guaranteed place interview, who is given a reserved list interview? Does ESF kinder play a role? My girl's school did a language assessment of all student in the past few weeks.

My husband has phoned the school and they said that it's just according to the random numbers of students and not by any assessment.

I think that base on priority, mean that kids parents are ESF teacher, should has high priority and guarantee offered if their kids passed interview assessment.
if there still has room it should be for next priority siblings and so on...
if sum of all priorities are over subscribe then they will estimate other kids out of the edge may mark as reserve list...

Anybody know if SJS had second or even third rounds of interviews last year? My son has interview for a spot on reserve list.

Great! Is he at ESF kinder? I heard WKS kinder only half amount of students can go to ESF primary last year but over 90% from Tsing Yi kinder... Big difference... Is your kid from Tsing Yi?

It's not true.
Most of WKS kids go to SJS or RC last year, just few percent go to other IS or study abroad.

not true!  TY 96% WKS 95%
it is mentioned in the school annual reports.

My son studied WKS kindergarten and last year applied SJS and RC. SJS no interview was granted and On waitlist of RC... so The competition is always keen ... but at last they offered BHS interview to my son and he is studying there now ,  so I can say studying in ESF kindergarten still has some "advantages "...

We are on the reserve list but offered an interview, we have no priority at all, Cantonese speaking family but have foreign passport, we should be kind of at the end of the list......... Guess we had some luck on the random number

But in my email, They said "Please note that this application is valid for ONE academic year (2017/18 academic year), reapplication is required should you wish to keep your child's name on our wait list for 2018/19 academic year......  So i suppose we need to pay $2000 again for 2018/19 application?  Thanks.

我曾經都以為申請費只係有效一年，但打過電話去問學校同埋central application都係話二丶三月會再出email問家長想唔想繼續留喺waitlist, 如果留就會自動繼續排下年，下年唔駛再交多一次錢。

We applied to RC and got the email last Friday saying that our son will have an interview with them next Jan, they will send further info by early mid-dec. We thought our chance to get an interview offer was very slim as our son goes to local kindy, and we don't hold any foreign passport!  So we were surprised to receive the email! We were thinking about if we should buy the NR before, so now we were like saving the big fortune!

RC do things differently from the other ESF schools.
RC will interview most of the applicants, typically inviting 600 out of around 800 who applied, but they're also more selective in making offers. After all, the number of Y1 places is fixed at around 160, so if they interview more, it follows that they have to be more choosy when deciding who to offer a place to.

The other ESF schools will interview fewer applicants but are more liberal in making offers, the difficult part is getting an interview and that is largely determined by a random number assigned to each applicant.

thanks for sharing. Regarding RC is more selective with no advantages for ESF kinder, is anyone know do they offer equal place for local kinder since those ESF applicants might got offer from their regional school.
