含著金鑰匙出生 Born with a silver spoon in mouth
為什麼是「金鑰匙」呢？雖然沒有一個公認的答案，但估摸著應該是指以前富家子弟出生在擁有好幾間房子的家庭，不用工作，遺產已經包括了每人一間房子。 但是為什麼外國人叫 “Silver Spoon” 呢？ 其實這個片語是由西班牙文學作品《唐吉訶德》翻譯出來的。英文翻譯成 “It is also well know that as far back as the early 18th century the O'Callaghan's of Sutherland House Monkstown Cork were all born with silver spoons in their mouths.”
例子：Thomas is born with a silver spoon in his mouth, his father is a newspaper tycoon.

塞翁失馬，焉知非福 Every cloud has a silver lining
相信這個大家都曾經聽過。但是，為什麼是銀色，不是金色？ 其實這句出自 John Milton 的一首詩 “Comus: A Mask Presented at Ludlow Castle”
Turn forth her silver lining on the night, And casts a gleam over this tufted grove.
意思就是：希望在明天
例子：Don’t worry if you cannot find a job now, every cloud has a silver lining. （中譯：別擔心找不到工作，希望在明天。）
變賣資產 Sell off the family silver 變賣了家裡所有銀器，還不是傾家蕩產了嗎？這個片語除了形容人之外，還可以形容政府，當年 Margaret Thatcher 因為讓國外公司購買英國公共企業的股份而得此片語。
例子：The government sold off the family silver by allowing foreign corporations to buy stocks of public assets and manipulating the country’s resources.
（中譯：政府變賣了所有公共資產，讓外國企業操控了國內資源。）
銀舌頭 Silver Tongue
「銀舌頭」基本上是來形容一個能言善辯，玩弄字詞的人。簡單來說就是語言藝術能力極高的人。
例子：The politician wins many supporters’ hearts with his silver tongue.
（中譯：這個政客的銀舌頭贏了不少民心。）
不費吹灰之力 served on a silver platter
Platter 是一個大拼盤。正如上面的 silver spoon，銀器令人聯想財富。
例子：He has never worked hard at school, everything is served on a silver platter for him!
（中譯：他從未努力讀書，所有事情對他來說都是不費吹灰之力便可得到。）
銀幕 the silver screen
早期的電影屏幕都是含有「銀」這元素，因為當年科技不發達，而銀擁有很高的反射度。
例子：All the stars of the silver screen are here tonight to attend the annual Academy Awards ceremony.
（中譯：所有銀幕明星今晚都出席一年一度的奧斯卡頒獎典禮。）
銀族網民 silver surfer
「長者」無論在中文還是英文，都和銀有關（銀髮）。這片語用來形容積極上網的老人家。
例子：My grandmother is a silver surfer, she recently learns how to use social network!
（中譯：我的祖母是個銀族網民，她最近還學會如何使用社交網站呢！）
沈默是金 Speech is silver, silence is golden.
「沉默是金，雄辯是銀」。不過在英文裡卻是顛倒的。
例子：I did not argue with her because I knew “speech is silver, silence is golden”.
（中譯：我沒有和她爭論，因為我知道「沉默是金，雄辯是銀」。）
