I think that really depends on which school/ Six Form you are attending. My cousin studies at Solihull School and she says quite a number of teachers are PhDs from Oxbridge, the school really wants to boost the GSCE and AL performance (sacked a few teachers whose performance are slightly off scale). Of course, only private schools and top government schools can afford employing them. I don't know whether having a PhD as lecturers is that vital, but surely if the lecturers know how to teach, that would be wonderful.

Foundation could be better since it's a truly practical programme for that particular university course. Lecturers can always teach more on certain topics that is useful in future studies. AL is broader and less practical than Foundations, it buys you more time and options. All we say is, whether you have your mind set or you want to ponder every possible option.

No,that is absolutely not true. NORMALLY, all good student with high goal willchallenge themselves to set and complete the whole pathway of secondaryeducation (DSE, IB, A-Level, AP, SAT), in order to get into so call "verygood or elite university". They will not look at the foundation pathway asa way to GOOD university.

For someone can only get into foundation and later move onto university, thelevel of University will not be as comparable as those good student (unlessthey fail in exam, or some extreme case that we cannot predict.). However, if student is not confidence to take DSE / IB / A-Levels, then foundation is a good alternative to gain into university later.

At least they give themselves a chance to get into better university if they success in DSE. What about those go straight to foundation without trying?

Because foundation is not equivalent to graduation from secondary school. So technically speaking, these students did not graduate from secondary school, did not have a secondary school graduation diploma.
Most foundation have LOTS of limitations. You can only go to undergrad programs of the same university.
Most universities do not recognise the qualifications of foundation program of other universities. So students cannot apply to other universities.

Many employers would also look at secondary school graduation diploma of fresh graduate. If you do not have one, you will lose a lot of chances or options in the future too.
No offence but most students that chose to go for foundation are those that have little confidence with AL, IB, DSE, etc. Top or above average students would seldom go for foundation.

Having said that, I think foundation is a good choice especially if you choose a school that provide career geared program.
On the other hand, if you aim to study a very academic subject, it is still best to finish AL/IB/DSE.

Just school reports.
I know a few people that went to foundation either after Form 4 or Year 11 (ESF Year 11 equivalent to Form 4).
All did not have good grades. All accepted for foundation.
But I heard that the foundation program can be quite demanding.

So it might be that they accept you easily, but you still need to work super hard.
Therefore, foundation is just another chance for you.
It is another choice for you if you want to skip AL, IB or DSE public exam.
But, still need to work diligently during the program.
There is never any easy way.
Parents and students need to understand that.
