In Oxbridge briefing, my daughter's school said even with 3A* or 4A*, only half of the application will be successful and the rate goes down with lower mark. The message is that good grade is important but not the most important. Secondly, most schools don't want a large pool of applications for Oxbridge.

大仔差唔多搞掂啦..因為想試下cambridge..所以15/oct前要send 份ucas 出去.....其他同 ...

我個囡忙到whatsapp都冇乜時間！大家都應該做緊同一㨾嘢！

9月呢个時間d学生真系好忙，忙写personal statement,  揀学校，揀学科，填UCAS,  如報oxbridge或加埋non jupas 更忙！

阿仔lower six 讀5科暫時未見佢好忙，仍然有好多活動同leisure time, 剛剛exeat跟學校團去咗Edinburgh.

不過學校已好積極安排seminars about 準備大學applications. 又見physics 同maths 老師send emails 叫阿仔參加national physics and math challenges 校隊嘅甄選，話對UCAS 有幫助。但阿仔懶懶閒，又話自己唔夠香港名校過去嘅仔爭。

我諗佢如果要申請top U, 佢個profile for personal statement 未必夠照。佢除成績不俗外，有入 school sports teams, 有代表下house for inter-house competitions, 有每星期參加學校的community services, that's all.

而家我躊躇緊下年暑假比佢去上有關大學subject 嘅 advanced summer course (probably in US top U) 好吖？定係安排related work experience 好？邊樣對personal statement and interview 較有幫助？有諗過兩樣做哂，但朋友話佢暑假會忙於準備Oxbridge 入學考試同interview，有好多extra reading 同past papers 要操喎。大家可否比d意見？thx!

This summer, my daughter started to draft up her personal statement, worked on a summer job and did reading on books and articles related to the discipline she wanted to apply. The summer job and reading would help on both personal statement and interview. She didn't do any test paper as it is more from the knowledge she already learned. Besides, this is the first year Cambridge hold the entry test. Preparation needs to start in summer if you want to apply to Oxbridge.

如果你話oxbridge, 又唔算多past paper 要操wor...我覺得working experience 比較重 ...

佢未諗掂。而家讀緊double math, physics, chemistry and history. 佢話可能take chemical engineering, but he actually does not know what it is

Yes exactly that's what I've told that since Cambridge requires entrance exams now, the applicants need to prepare more than just the interviews by doing past papers as well (on top of reading and work experience).

Just got email from his physics teacher recommending them to take "head start" courses at Uk universities in end June (only 4 days). Seems it's a good opportunity for them to try and taste the academic and lifestyle of their target courses as well as universities? Though I doubt if that would add credit to their PS.

Btw, the entrance test can be done in hk thru british council during term break and so she still have time to prepare for it without worrying abt anything else.

我個囡心頭高，但係懶！佢profile比你仔弱好多！
暑假佢只係做咗一日義工，響科大讀咗個summer course, that's all!
