似乎是DSE狀元才是多讀神科, 今年差不多全部入港大医科

此帖中段是去到比較dse定ib入兩大医科易d嘛。咁味講翻这類高分人。神科，水泡科，各大学secrets都喺咁定義，何必入罪國際学生家長。dse联招搏a1，2, 水泡3就叫策略，不需按兴趣，事实ib高分入普通科，另一帖早詳細討論过,多的是。如说及ib, 無論甚麼題材，最後点都会被評撃，好似搶左香港人乜野資源咁，仲有喺‘’冇料‘’用咁入尖子科。以英基為例，约千人考，留港味一百人，已公佈為明顕增加，大家不如留意下內地生在各大情況好过啦，美其名叫交流，实情每間大学一年收几百人，傳媒做下佢地好过，可以挽回好多学位及宿位比翻香港学生。

All depends on which country you want him to go.

I know a boy back to Canada, 41, got full scholarship.

I read some UK info can be 38, HL 766.

There are no undergrad MD program in Canada.
The so called "bachelor of medical science" or "bachelor of health science" in some canadian universities have no direct relation to MD program.Students have to apply to MD program at around third to forth year of their undergrad program. And the process is extremely competitive and they normally do not accept applications from non-canadians.

Great to clarify it. A lot of people misunderstand it is a easy path or shortcut to study medicine in Canada.

I am sure he was offered scholarship. I do not think anyone would lie about that.
All I wanted to clarify was that, it can in no way be an MD program.
There are a few universities that have "bachelor of medical science" program, but it is simply not the same type of medical program at HKU or CUHK.
Most students applying to Canadian "medical science" program probably do have MD program as target program. So these programs do attract top students. Students successfully got into "medical science" programs in Canada need to work extremely hard, keep a near perfect GPA, get good results in MCAT, kept a very good profile/portfolio, and deal with interviews.
I am sure the boy you are talking about is a bright student, and he probably really have the potential to get into MD program. But if I were him, I would not tell other people "I am going to Canada to study medicine" because that really is not the case.

Yes. Really want to clarify to avoid misunderstanding.
The canadian system is quite similar to the US system.
In fact, most professional programs like law, medicine (pharmacy, dentistry as well), architecture, etc are post grad programs.
There are 2 undergrad programs in ontario with a label "bachelor of medical science" or "bachelor of health science" that are very "famous" for their high admission threshold (96+% of ontario high school average). And even with these "elite programs", only around 40-50% of their graduates can eventually secure a place with one of the MD programs in Canada. Other similar undergrad programs (i.e. that have a label "medical science" or "health science") have very few students that can get into MD programs (we are talking about may be 5 graduates per program).
So it would be extremely misleading if a student got an offer from a "medical science" undergrad program, and go around telling people they are going to canada to study medicine.
It should also be noted that, not any single MD program in Canada has said that a "bachelor of medical science" undergrad program would have any advantage when applying for MD program. A lot of students merely went for a chemistry or biochemistry major, got very high GPA, MCAT (plus other non academics, e.g. sports, volunteer and work experience, interview etc) that got into an MD program.
I am sure applications to MD programs in the US can possibly be even more competitive.
Very different from the hong kong medical education system. May be that is why many people misinterpret the "status" of a "bachelor of medical science" degree.

My friend's son declined the offer from HKU medical school years ago, but went to study the undergrate program Bio/Chem in Canada.  This Sept he starts the study of MD programe.

His goal is to be a researcher . He said the study enviornment and opportunity are better in Canada.

如果純粹選HKU Medicine, 應該讀DSE正路啲。 CU medi 就收得比HKU較多non-full mark IB students and overseas high school students through non jupas applied.

我在多倫多居住了11年, 閣下說的確是實況, 讀醫先讀health science, 四年undergraduate畢業後, 要成績優秀的一批才可以正式讀醫, 其餘的, 譬如一個朋友女兒去了做牙醫助理.

此外, 你說有兩間undergraduate "elite" programs, 我想問Queen's University是其一嗎?  另一朋友女兒, 各項成績異常優秀, 拿了TD Bank的全額奬學金入讀Queen's 的health science, 所以我猜想Queen's是其一.

我估好多香港考生有能力取38分，問題係讀完又難以在港執業，呢樣至麻煩
