Not sure if my response is going to be helpful, but KIS has progress report every quarter so you get to see how your kid's progress in each subject is - if there is a concern with math, it will probably show up in the report/ discussed in the parents' meeting. So I'd say not to worry. However, for parents who like the "drilling", my personal position is there is no harm unless your kid is over-doing it. But I wouldn't expect the teacher expects extra tuition from outside as they should be able to teach according to the curriculum and the exam syllabus for Year 6 checkpoint (this thinking will be very different from some local schools as well, where often you will have test papers with levels way beyond what was being taught at school).

So far KIS and kisngsu-chekiang international.  I like the small class teaching in KIS, it is really tempting. I have applied the summer course for my son.  Will definitely go for it if he likes it.

You shall not consider kisngsu-chekiang. This school is Second tier teaching. I know an IB girl who has been there for many years, but her english is still "shit". People just speak Cantonese there.

Most likely will stick to Kis,  the small classes teaching is more suitable for my son. Price and location both fit my criteria.

That's what I (and also some other parents) did as well - we did the summer course first. Hope your kid enjoys the summer school experience!

Yes, hope he likes it. Want him to enjoy the school life.  We don't want him to go thru the hk system.

Hi, My son will start Year 1 at KIS in Aug.

1)  Does the child bring all his textbooks on  the 1st day of school ?
2)  Is stationery provided ? Do we need to prepare for him ?
3)  Accepting school catering, Do we bring our own eating utensils ? What   sort of drinks are provided ?

1. You have to bring all the textbook to on the 1st or 2nd school day
2. The kid have to prepare his/her stationary. Don't be worry as the home teacher will give you a check list
3. The canteen will provide the eating utensils.

I have to comment that they have quite a good variety of food to choose from daily. The choices are really balanced. They have Chinese, Korean, Japanese, western, Southeast Asian, vegetarian...so the kid got to try a bit of everything.

One thing I am not sure is if you choose to bring your own lunch, then perhaps you should bring your own utensils. But yes if you go for cafeteria lunch then no need to bring anything.

Is reception start in Aug 19 for this year? Didnt expect my  son love to go kis so much.  He actually looking forward for next day school.  Never happened before.  Already send application to school.  Hope there still chance to enroll the reception :(

School starts Aug 19. So your kid is going to Reception this Sept? You probably need to wait for a few months to have the interview chance if you only apply now.

I'm interested in this school too. I was thinking to apply next year for the reception. But my friend just told me this school has a lot of 南亞裔 kids, is that true?

I think the first question from me is what's the concern with having South Asian kids in school (I think you meant Indians and Pakistanis) - in an international school setting, and even in a few local schools, we have to accept the fact that there are many non-Chinese students and we have to be open-minded about making friends with kids from different nationalities and understanding their culture. This is one of the biggest values of attending an international school.  

Specifically on your question though, the answer is no. In my kid's class in the past academic year, there were only 2 Indian kids out of the 19 kids in the class. And both of the Indian students did very well academically and were amongst the friendliest kids in the class.

This year they had high number of applications received.  Winiy i suggest you apply asap if you are interested in KIS
