ICS vs ISF in terms of academic performance?

Till FebGuess school is checking how many seats for outsiders and which outsiders can fill the gap
That's why I feel hopeless, even though my daughter passed the interview, I hv no clue on the probability to get a seat.

oic, our interview done last week. i thought the results will be  announced in late January.

Through letter, about one month after interview though they said two weeks

Both schools do fine academically but you are comparing apples with oranges. One is AP and the other is IB. One is an IS with Chinese and the other is bilingual. One is in Shatin and the other is on the south side of HK. Why are you comparing these two schools? Have you decided what type of school you want?

Honestly I don't have personal experiences neither in IB nor  AP program. Knowledge are only from the websites. Grateful if you can give me a more concrete ideas for the comparison. I raised this question simply because I like the education provided by international schools. Location and language program are not my main concern. However, I do consider more on their academic achievement. In other words, I like to eat both apples and oranges,but I would like to take only the good one.

They mentioned it in school visit already. Even you pass the interview, they do not guarantee a seat for you. Interview is still on going and will probably finish within this month (I guess). And they will check the total no of applicants who pass the interview vs no of seats available. And they choose from the wait pool who else can take the seats.

Sorry for jumping into this. In the early years, I like to see my kids are happy going to school and make good friends, not much serious academic things in K1 or K2. Moreover, I don't expect my kids would need to do very well academically over their school years, I think a balanced school life is more meaningful to me than just scored all A in every subject.

做香港父母真不易。唔想做怪獸家長，或計劃小朋友日後出國留學，所以才讓小孩子讀國際學校。但這並不代表我們對學校冇要求。怕入國際學校後，小朋友中文差，又怕校風差、或課程鬆散。學業成績係其中一個指標，但校風，學校教養、品徳同樣重要。

同意你的说法，我假設這兩間小朋友都是開心上学。咁如果学校本身程度又高的話就好，唔想以後要補習，違反左送去國際学校的原意。其實好想有人可以分享一下在AP 同IB program下小朋友的学習模式？哪一種自主性高些？自己这方面的知識很少，可否分享一下？

係呀！品行好重要，ICS 真係唔担心，ISF好似都ok. 其實問學術水平，唔代表只關心成績，只是其他方面都考慮過，有初步的ideas. 对我這些在local school長大的，最陌生的是学制，希望了解多些。而若兩種学制都好，小朋友又能得到好好的教育，當然希望該校课程辦得好，唔想到高中狂補習。

樓主講到鍾意IS，咁功課量係咪考慮呢？Isf每天功課量指引，grade1約60分鐘。多吾多好睇小朋友，識人話好輕鬆，亦識半唐番細路上到小三定四，頂唔順退學。

Problem is there is no common understanding.
With two different curriculums, they aren't really comparable. The AP scores of schools are difficult to compare since students have the flexibility to take AP courses or not. IB scores are more comparable and there are detailed discussions on this board. I have a thread that compare the results of all HK schools (http://www.edu-kingdom.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2846118)
With different level of Chinese, that makes it even more difficult. If one student is good at Chinese but average at English and another is good at English but average in Chinese, then who is better academically? Their Chinese  will be heavily influenced by which school you choose. Is having two first languages a must or a nice to have?


What kind of school community and environment would you like?

I would suggest you nail down some of these decisions first. Once you have done more research, I suspect you won't be comparing these two schools but rather a subset of schools that are more similar.
