i don't think there is any problem, especially for upper primary. my son's first language is english, so that he catches up his new school life very fast.

I am not sure if CAIS has any "preferred kindergarten". My daughter is from Victoria and I know some of her classmates are graduated from kindergartens in Kowloon Tong. I think CAIS concerns more about the interview performance rather than which KG your kid comes from.

Also when you mentioned interview performance, what does the school expect?

Corarale, not sure about the interview format but you may ask the school if you will have a visit there. Or you can see sharings from other parents above.

Don't think your kid need to have good mandarin as some students, esp those native English speaking kids show no understanding in Chinese. I think it is more important that your kid can demonstrate his understanding of instruction in English.
