對英國完全唔熟,但係想送仔仔去讀中學

I think you have to decide WHEN to go.  If you target 2014 fall, you have to hurry up.  Though you may have missed the deadline, you can contact the target schools for enquiry.  There is always no harm to ask.  If you are not looking at the super popular schools, which require 18-24 months registration ahead, there is always the chance.

If you want to go 2015 or afterwards, you have plenty of time to prepare.  There are exhibitions starting from Jul & Aug...  AA usually have the so called "TOP SCHOOLS WEEK" in September.

我想2015年果個學年先去...等仔仔完成小六先..但係其實我發覺我都唔係好多時間...基本上都係遲左..
我睇學校D網話2015應該2013就要報
我之前就係諗..我15年9月先讀...14年9月前報都應該差唔多...原來唔係囉..
如果YEAR 9重話要早3年開始報...2年半前考試...

希望我重趕得切..

If you target at boys only schools, they mostly start at 13+ or year 9.

英國5歲開始小學一年級 year 1, 9月開學前滿11 歳讀year 7即中學第一年，所以13歳讀year 9 ，I think the schools only care about age of the students, they don't care what grade you are in HK school as the HK local system is different from uk system.

咁其實HK過去既小朋友即係跳左班...對佢地有冇影響呢?

如果小朋友一向成績唔差，小學或畢業去都可以應付，但如果讀完中一跳中三或中二跳中四，怕有難度，對小朋友的學業要求較高，中三後就難跳，因為GCSE或AL起碼要兩年時間去準備。

明白...即係最好就係13歲前去...咁跳級都對小朋友冇咁大影響?學校試又易D考入?

不能說是跳級，大家同齡，同一年出生，只是香港叫小六，英國叫year 7，如你小孩從2歲起讀書，入學年資比英國小孩還要多呢。或許你應關心英文（包括日常communication and writing)，而數學就完全不用擔心

係...我其實係擔心英文...數學我知HK一向快外國2-3年的...所以數學對仔仔唔會難...但係英文呢...係HK已少機會聽講睇...咁學校教既如果又比外國慢...咁佢會好難追
