想問下現時CAIS 家長, 報名時是否一定要交school reference form? 唔交form 的話是否唔收?

If no sch ref form is submitted, the case will not be regarded as a complete application. The sch would email parents to confirm.

小兒剛入讀本地學校小一兩個幾月, 要學校寫Reference Letter報讀另一間, 肯定收就話無所謂, 如何唔收又要留係原校, 我想知老師校長會點諗?

agree 我囡囡係另一間IS幼稚園讀，小一有priority但不保證直升，所以之前都想報埋CAIS。但既然需要呢樣野，我多數都唔報啦，不然原校升小一話唔定都受影響喇

Why not ask school direct but parents here?

In your case you should ask the kindergarten not current primary school.

My son is studying at K2 now, I also ask his K1 teacher to fill in the form instead of K2

I think the kindergartens are very willing to do so.

They would want their students to go to good primary schools so that they can use it as a selling point in the future.

I face similar difficulties.  My son is studying P.3 in local school.  We want to  apply transfer to CAIS but not sure about the chances.  I don't know how the current school will react if we ask them for reference.

Hi Workmama,

Well, very long story.  My kids were born in Hong Kong and they are also Canadian Citizens.  We planned to return to Canada in the future but don't know when, may be when they enter University or High school.  

Originally, we let him study in local school because we wanted him to learn more Chinese, better mathematics and better discipline.  We didn't think that would be a problem because we all grew up this way.  However, after years, i noticed that he changed a lot.  He was trained to be a machine for examinations, particularly in this year when he has to sit for TSA exam.  He was creative and used to make me art works all the time.   But not anymore because he has no time to do so.  He has no time to play nor do what he wants to do after school.  He never complaints but i don't want to see him grow up this way.  I want him to be creative, to have time to think and play, and to explore the world but not just homework.  

The teachers in traditional local schools care about marks only.  I hope CAIS is a good place for children.  After reading many posts, i realized that parents rate very high on the patience and caring of teachers in CAIS.  So, i want to have a change.

I totally agree with what you say. I am so happy with the way that he is now, happy and silly and compassionate, I don't want him to go to a local school and become a machine.Sadly, CAIS put him only on waiting list. I hope they will call me for a placement.

Anyway, good luck to all parents! May all kids found a school that fits him/her!
