如果學生讀國際學校多年，是不用考 ielts

唔駛打 X，想話 KGV 係唔係？
kgv 都有好多人係由本地學校插班入 year 10 或 year 12
如果係入 year 12 就一定要考
如果當年 year 10 入，好大可能唔駛
但有 d 學生，唔理三七廿一乜都走去考都唔奇

好多學生，乜都考，ielts 又考，sat 又考，ap 又考
但結果可能只係留香港讀，但香港 d 大學冇話要考

Yes, Tofel is acceptable to all UK universities (save for a few, such as Cambridge and Oxford).
My son was admitted to a UK college to study law on the strength of his TOFEL result. The colleges required 107 (out of 120) with each component not less than 25. The requirement is high for law.

For science subjects, the colleges would usually require 85 to 90 (out of 120) with each components not less than 22 to 23.

其實有些中學生真係冇乜準備就考，未必係吹水。小兒今年三月考，只看看網上的format，因為要準備DSE，又要趕及四月截止前報上 jupas. 跟本冇時間準備，都係 Speaking, writing 低分，overall 7.5.

The TOFEL and the IELTS tests are more or less the same. Both have 4 components. I think the difficulties are more or less the same. In fact they can adjust the required scores.
For your information, my son studied law. All colleges made it a condition that he needed to submit overall IELTS score 7 with each component not less than 7, OR overall TOFEL scores not less than 100 (with each component not less than 25).

Both my two kids took the IELTS and TOFEL tests. My son's overall score is 8.5, while my daughter's overall score is 8. Both have score 7 in each components.

Regarding TOFEL, both my kids obtained 115 out of 120 and all components of score 28 (out of 30) or above.

It is not difficult to obtain the minimum score if you have some preparation beforehand.

HKU嘅ielts成績固然最好, 而學生英語水平最高嘅醫科、牙科、護理及社會科學科的，平均分都係6.89!

其實6.89算是一般，要知道醫科、牙科一般來說成績要很好才入到，法律專業PCLL一般都要7才會考慮。大學現在4年制，第一年只不過是學一些普通科目，例如University English（我幫一些大學生惡補IELTS至知）要上幾個courses才讓他們日後畢業出來考IELTS，如果只能考到6點幾分真是有點失禮。

IELTS只有2年時間限期.點解唔考IGCSE英文科?
可以永久保持成績,是否有其他原因呢?

My kids did not study the British educational curriculum. As such, their timetable clashed with the examination time of IGCSE. They all took Toefl and Ielts during summer holiday, around end June or early July. It is better to have a result which lasts forever if the situation permits them to do so.

If time permitted them to do so, I would arrange them to take the igcse as well as tofel and ilets.

However, it is not necessary for them to do so. My son has graduated from college 2 years ago and my daughter is now in the second year of her degree program. Once they leave colleges, the employers are more interested in their grades or class of honors of their degrees than the igsce result.
For your information, my son was admitted to study law on the strength of Tofel in 2008. He took the ilets test in 2011 when he applied for admission to the PCLL course because the PCLL providers specify that the applicants should have a score of 7 or above in the ilets test.
