My daughter is studying in French International school and I found there are 12 students left the school this year (20%) and most of them will study in other International schools next term.

I just worry if I should continue in FIS or consider other IS? One of the reasons for the leavers is FIS IB results was declining in recent years.

Anyone can share your view?

IB results may be fluctuated year by year.

It is quite normal that students' turnover is higher in international schools because this group of people is usually more mobile. It is the same case as in others like ESF.

家家有本難唸的經. 其實好多時都係 "我睇你好, 你睇我好". 看 FIS 的 school website, 2012年都有人在 IB 攞42分. 可能最終, 小朋友的努力最為重要.

It's common in IS esp those more expats attending to.

家長要以客觀心理，對情形作出判斷。
學校有學生離開，有很多原因。
可能的確是覺得學校差，自己找到另一間較好的。
但也有好能是學生自己的問題，但人家當然不會 "認衰"，說是自己的問題，只會推說自己找到更好的學校。

睇FIS的資料, 成績都幾好吖. 估計應該係多外籍人士家庭在FIS讀書, 小朋友轉校往往由於家長的工作有轉變, 都幾普遍.

反而如果多港人就讀的IS會比較穩定d.

曾经也是FIS 的家长, 当年高中还在考A-level, IB 好像刚开始, 离开的原因绝非是进入大学的好成绩有变.而是发现左右四方的家长非常重视成绩, 钱是不缺, 可以催谷的必努力补习,谷吓谷吓已有点不像IS 了.  而成绩是否真的非常好, 却是见仁见智.

老实说, 父母十分有期望而孩子又合适被催谷的, 一般老早去左读GSIS, 因为成绩有保证, 如果GSIS 的成绩连续三年大下滑, 或许每年又有20-30% 出走CIS, ISF 等. 最少学得好中文.  这是现实.

FIS 的IB 成绩下滑,已是持续七八年, 高材生不想冒险, 转校或出国是必然事, 留下的高材生少了, 又没好的新血加入, 要弄得出众公开试成绩是愈来愈难了.

冒昧的说, 催谷型的名校成绩是很好, 可是却十分依赖能否收到适合努力奋斗的孩子和家长, 如果错配了, 教学和成绩便不容易达标呢.

p.s. 中学生不可或缺的包括体艺社交, 如果我们把成绩的期望减低, 做到平行的生活, 对孩子的长远利益更明显.

有d IS家長的催谷已經幾貼近local，親友中，有補習的（吾系吾叻，系要叻過人）；有勁谷體育去提高在學校的standing；有讀緊tier 1的，仲力操想插CIS。

他們當初幫小朋友選IS，都有理念，吾系甘樣....

隔离饭香, 老婆是人家的漂亮. CIS , GSIS, HKIS, 也有读得普通的孩子, 勉强没幸福呢! 大家可以放松点

前几年有位FIS 的男孩失恋, 打算在学校天台自杀, 还好是救活了.在IS 圈子算是十分罕见(第一次). 不是局内人, 任何判断也是错的多. 当时这样想:

如果男孩生命中还有足球,篮球, 游泳, violin, orchestra, 画画, 跳舞, drama, 或责任多多, 应该不会随便想到放弃生命吧!

IB scores 会影响入大学的選择, 人生却绝不止于此!

請問妳是在小學或中學轉了校? 而谷成绩是在小學或中學較普遍?
