In fact, learning Engish is not easy. It's easy to learn BUT difficult to manage it well. In addition, In most of the schools, actually, though the academic quality of the teacher may be good, they don't have 'a heart' to teach...they just follow the 'rule book' to mark the exam. Some of my colleauges, they are ABC or BBC, they are very frustrated to the marking system in HK. Their kids answer the English question in perfect English, however, because those answers are not in 'rule book', the teachers marked them wrong...this really 'kill' the students...
Same to Chinese sentence writing, I was very frustrated. I don't min teachers correct the grammar mistake or structure of the sentence, but the teachers even correct the feeling of the students...that's really funny...AND no appeal!!! Look like teachers always right!!! I showed the Chinese and English composition to the lawyers (both Chinese and western lawyers), they said my kid is pretty good in writing and even better than his teachers. English composition is better, my kid get better score...however, his Chinese composition, teacher just give him a PASS...
Why we have to set the words limit vs we let the kids write...I don't mind my kid to write whatever on his mind, it's all his innovation...
