My son would like to enrol for Year 10 in 2014.  I've found that the FT ranking of this school is quite good.  Any parents have comments for this school?

Very good school, u should apply now since there will be tests.

Thank you for your information.  I plan for 2014 but not 2013, so I think I would apply it next year Sept.
Reading is a very good school, however, it provides weekly boarding only :(

Hi, I applied Royal Grammar School for my son at year 2013.
Testing in Hong Kong is administered by the British Council on their behalf.
I am waiting testing.

Does the boy need to hold British passport to apply?

Yes, you need to hold an EU or British Passport to apply these state boarding schools.

Hi HKdevil,
You can browse their school website and find out more about this school.  They would assign British Council to hold an entrance test for HK students.
As the school ranking of the school is so called high, I think the selection is quite high standard.  That's why I want to know any kids attended the entrance test in HK and wamt to know the standard of the test.
Anybody can help?

Odelia,
Your daughter is studying in another state boarding school.  If both schools admit your younger son, which one will you choose for him?  What are the factors for consideration?  What are the pros and cons for them studying together in the same boarding school.

My elder son is doing well in his school.  I have applied the same boarding school for my younger boy for Year 2013.  So far, this is the only boarding school I applied for my younger boy.  Really want to get different views in this matter.

Hi Tommy,
Nice to meet you again.  I saw you posted some pictures of your son's school.  It's very nice!
I choose Royal Grammar at this moment is solely because of its ranking.  That's why I need other parents to comment on this school  as I have no idea about it.
My daughter enjoys her school life very much.  When I ask her if she wants to change to another better academic school, she strongly rejected me! OMG
I won't choose Steyning for my son.  Why? Surprising me that Steyning's school ranking dropped a lot this year.  This is one of the reasons why I won't pick this school again.  However, its school supporting actually is very good. Hope the coming results of GCSE / A Level of the school would rise next year.
As my son's learning ability is much more stronger than his sister.  I would apply a strong academic grammar school for him.  From English people's view, grammar school status is more higher than community school.  This is another reason for me to choose grammar school.
For choosing community school, students only need interview but for enrolment of grammar schools, students need to pass the entrance test and depend on the school has boarding place available.  I think you must know these.
So, I think it's not easy to enter into the Royal Grammar.  The competition is keen.

Tommy, i was considering a better ranking school too, but I now really like my girls school which is also your son school, so I think i would also send my son there for boarding. Please go to cpu 1995 link for my sharing of the school, to see if you agree.

睇返d舊post, 原來我大仔同您個女係香港就讀同一間中學，而且同級，佢地friend唔 friend就唔知，但應該互相認識的。

作出改變從來都唔容易。佢地第一次離開父母親，萬水千山獨自去到一個陌生環境，難得在新環境裡適應下來，交了新朋友，對人和地都產生了感情和歸屬感，這時又要佢地來一個大改變，又要從新去新適應新環境，殊不簡單。
為人父母，當然是千方百計希望把最好的送給子女。我都經常想，是否排名較前就是較好，我相信是，這個我也不會否定。但所謂較好是以學校為本體，是學校和學校之間的比較。但如果要比較孩子讀這間學校好，抑或轉到另一間學校好，要考慮的因素很多，這是很複雜的問題。

其實，我大仔入了Wymondham兩個星期之後，有另一間排名前好多的學校邀請他做interview，他的反應和您女兒今天的反應一模一樣。

我地千辛萬苦才爭取到呢個學位，學校對他中途插班非常關顧，小兒亦非常喜愛他的學校，於好短時間之內已經好享受他的新生活。最後，我們一至決定放棄另一學校的面試邀請。

我和太太的另一考慮是我們的細仔，好的學校對學業成績一定有要求，假如細仔入唔到大仔的學校，咁就好麻煩。佢地兩兄弟就讀同一間幼稚園和小學，從小就建立了很好的感情連繫，入讀同一間寄宿學校可讓他們擁有共同的文化背景和社交圈，我地期望當我地百年歸老之時，他們手足之情依然可以延續互相照應。

Tommy,我是最近才開始留意送子女到英國升學的資料,可否分享一下你如何爭取到這個學位,之前要做什麼準備工夫?例如是不是要在KET,PET,Trinity等考試中有很好的成績?或需要考什麼試?還有,所有開支包括住宿,學費(你小朋友的學校),交通,guidianship等等大約要多少錢一年?唔好意思,咁多問題,因我真是想有多些資料作好準備,謝謝!
