IB vs traditional

真心求教！若果赤柱St Stephen's和VSA維小都收，邊間好啲呢？亞女個性活潑，但都坐得定受教嘅，老師就話兩條路都可行，所以更加唔知點決擇，希望聽多啲意見！

兩間學校嘅理念同教育方式都了解過，各有吸引之處！自己同老公都係傳統名校出身，之後去咗外國讀high school同U, 所以兩類教育方式都經歷過，各有利弊，所以令到我地更加難二選一。希望收集多啲意見再作分析，謝謝！

Same as your case, vote for VSA which is the path for a Leader tomorrow ... Good language skills and with confident are the reasons to get my vote

I went to the VSA visit last year.  The English accent of the kids in assembly are disappointing.  Please read the comments of the schools in EK before you make decision.

VSA is not very pure international in a way of nationality of the students are majority Hong Kong people.  I would not opt of VSA for international school otherwise there is no other choice of IB schools.  

I would fo for St Stephen as it has the same type of students - Hong Kong students.  So the language environment is the same.  Unless you get other offer of truely a better mix of students in a IB school.

你兩樣都經歷過，可能你才是最有資格答這個問題的人，這裏答你的人，九成九都沒有你的經驗，只會就自己子女讀的學校來回應，例如小女讀蔡繼有，所以我一定選IB，但讀IB的學生畢竟屬少數，所以如果你以數量計，一定多人選traditional.

Thx for your reply! IB concept我好認同，我只係有啲擔心呢個stream喺HK嘅出路，同埋日後升學會唔會選擇少咗！

本人已選了傳統直資學校.  也曾為IB學校而有所掙扎.  因為還有個小朋友仍在幼稚園,
他其實可順利跟哥哥入讀同一學校. 但IB的好處實在吸引, 所以這個問題很值得研究.

因為你本人是很難得傳統及IB都試過, 其實不如就你親身體驗, 試試列出各利與害,
那大家家長可進一步探究.  就我而言, 我從未接受過IB教育, 無理據去証明我的睇法.

很欣賞你選擇了IB.  因我對IB認識唔深, 未敢踏出第一步嘗試.

我心想. 是否讀了傳統校, 就沒有擴濶思想的空間, 又或者讀了IB,
就沒有傳統的功課測驗考試壓力, 學習係咪事半功倍 ? 真係好多問號.

其實有啲小朋友真係讀咩都咁叻, 你見男拔考 IB 都可以有咁好的成績就知, 聽聞佢哋 present 的技巧仲好好 !

反而我覺得家庭配唔配合到先係問題, 讀 IB 的學生多是做 project 當係閒事, 睇書當係消遣。但我真係識啲朋友覺得啲仔囡咁樣好似學唔到嘢喎... 又擔心點解平時會無傳統學校的測驗考試等架 (有啲家長真係要睇到自己個小朋友既成績考得好, 至覺得佢哋原來學咗嘢)。

相反, 如果你係接受到無一個個分數比你, 但小朋友可以閒閒地 free writing 四版紙比你的話咁揀 IB 的學校啦。
(我其實係偏向喜歡行 IB 的學校, 但我對 VSA 真係認識不深, 只深入了解過 CKY 呢間同小女之前讀的國際小學。)

Perhaps a bit further down the road, think of your preference for universities before one makes the decision.  If one prefers or only target Us in HK, traditional stream will give you a higher chance.  Though IB students can apply for local Us via non-jupas, limited amount of places is reserved for non-jupas students now.

本地大學並沒有non-jupas quota, IB生反而有越來越受本地大學歡迎的趨勢，其中六所大學更可給IB生豁免至多一學年課時。他們只有非本地生的QUOTA，最多只可收20%！
其實考甚麼試不重要，讀得好，考內地試HARVERD也收，最重要是學習的方式。

以上各位之見解令我得益不少，讓我好好思考一下。加上十多年後JUPAS也可能唔同玩法了！

是否小朋友喜歡大量閱讀便較合適讀IB 學校， 請指教。

I think when the children are young, traditional school seems to push you to learn. After children have the strong foundation on understaning the basic words and concept, then theycan be free to advance it.

Children love to learn, we only need to do is to give them a good enviroment, then they can learn very well. If you push them, they also can learn well, but they may hate learning, like most of us!
