The UK results you quoted are those of 2011... results of 2012 have not been released yet until Aug 23. How come CKY can announce their results with student names of this year yesterday??

Besides, only getting all A* can be described to be 狀元, so they in fact have only one 狀元 according to Singtao news.

(星島日報報道)英國的國際普通中學教育文憑試（IGCSE）放榜，創校十年的保良局蔡繼有學校，第二年有學生應考，七十八名考生中，共奪四百零三個A*或A，其中三名考生考獲十一科A*或A。校長劉筱玲指，今年考生奪A*比例較往年升逾一成，昨日保良局屬下中學舉辦公開試成績優異獎學金頒獎禮，三人各獲八千元獎學金。

　第二年有十年級（相等於中五）學生應考IGCSE的保良局蔡繼有學校，今年誕生三名考獲十一科A*或A的狀元，包括方晴、談正彥和葉浠雅，其中方晴更以十一科全A*，成為「狀元王」。校長劉筱玲表示，今屆考獲C級或以上成績的學生比例近九成半，獲A*的比例達兩成八，均比去年提升。

　　劉筱玲稱，「學校深信每個孩子都有其優點，故特色之一是不設排名，我認為毋須用成績排名來激勵學生，這亦不是一個好方法，提供輕鬆的教學環境，反而對學生更有效。」自小一已在保良局蔡繼有學校就讀的方晴亦表示，「學校沒有真正的敵人，只有朋友，同學間會互相扶持，幫忙溫習，目標非超越某人，而是超越自己的分數。」

　　方晴特別欣賞學校在數學科以引發學生興趣的方式學習，而非背公式的灌輸。三位狀元中方晴和葉浠雅均表示會在原校升班讀IB課程，談正彥則表示為令自己見識更廣，將轉讀國際學校。劉筱玲指，應屆IGCSE考生大部分原校升班，只有約十人出國讀書。

I guess it's because CKY students all take IGCSE of the Cambridge exam board. Edexcel GCSE results are available only by Aug 23, 2012.

As I know, they are different exam boards in UK, different schools choose the exam programs suitable for their students. Don't know if there are much difference between them.

Here are some year 2010 IGCSE examination statistics of other IGCSE Int'l School which found from their websites:
Year 2010 A*-A A*-C
Island School 58.10% 92.50%
South Island 52.60% 91.00%
Kiangsu-Chekiang 31.00% 82.00%
West Island 55.00% 95.00%
YCIS 44.00% 84.00%
CKY (year 2011) 47.10% 92.40%

A*-A 有50-60%已是不差的成績，但從以下網站

看到的資料，最好的竟有99.54%！而50幾%的已排名至二百多位。請問這是實況，還是因為兩個考試不同，如是是兩個考試不同，差異在那裏呢？

不敢班門弄虎，以我所知GCSE是英國的本土試，因為以往取A％很高，所以一般人會覺得這個試較容易。後來又增設了IGCSE的國際試，IGCSE取A的百分率應比GCSE為低的。

看完wiki，GCSE 是較統一及一致的科目為本的英國本土公開試。

IGCSE 反而多數具本土化，每個國家地區有些不同教法，我不知道對成績會否有影響。

成績好=課程容易，我唔係好肯定。因為有家長認為lB HL 攞 7，%多過HKDSE 5** ，所以認為lB淺過 HKDSE，我都莫明其妙，唔知點講。

For comparison sake, why not comparing CKY's last year result with other schools' last year result, this year's result with other schools' this year result? ESF is just a very average IS, how about comparing CKY to St. Paul Convent or so?
If you like to compare with results of 2011, SC (one of ESF I know)'s last year's A*/A is 60%+... others are........ don't bother to find out so much, (you have all data already??) ... anyway, this year's results not yet available, what's the point of comparing before results are known?

CKY今年才得十歲，長路漫漫，要學習的地方還多呢！這個成績只能說不賴，要進步的空間還多著呢。

同意若要比較成績，應該是與同屆成績作比較。不過，若按WYmom所說，ESF學生會同時參與GCSE及IGCSE的話，就要清楚各考試制度的成績結果，不能混為一談。將ESF每間學校的成績個別刋登，就更公平及透明化了。

Hi, kyliema2006,

Always appreciate your comments. Agree with you, CKY's result is good enough, yet I think the more meaningful and useful results for your school or International schools will be IBD... whatever GCSE or IGCSE are not very meaningful now as the % of A*/A is always very high for most schools... for top schools, they have like 90% A*/A, ESF is also doing just average, everyone knows that among local schools, St. Paul Convent is doing very very well in IGCSE every year, DBS' IB is excellent; for IS, the top ones are always LPC, GSIS, HKIS.... no need to look at very detail data...what's so exciting about CKY's IGCSE?

Students with flying colours in IGCSE may not be good at IBD, so some of them choose to take AL as a safer bet.

I really don't bother about comparing the results of this exam, just take it as a milestone of finishing secondary school for the kids. IBD is the real challenge for them.

By the way, you may also know that GCSE/IGCSE reform is underway for launch by 2014(?)...so a lot of changes again!

I cannot help wondering why you said DBS's IBD is excellent. She only has one year's track record & that record is not better than the " just average" ESF.
Please enlighten me.
BTW, can you tell me how good is SP Convent's result in IGCSE?
