As far as I know, the students are free to choose the instruments, except piano.  Yet, you can ask the music teacher during the orientation day.  I recalled that during the orientation day for my daughter (in 2010), the teachers explained in details the College's requirements in different subjects and ECAs.

If my son only like to learn flute.  the teacher need him to choose the other subject. he may disappointed.

例如游泳、乒乓球、籃球、羽毛球、足球等。

The students can choose whatever kinds of musical instrument they like.

The PE lessons are mainly for ball games, swimming and other kinds of sports activities.

My daughter joined the school volleyball team last year coz. she was also in the volleyball team of her primary school.

The PE teachers are in house teachers.  But the College has outside coaches for school teams and ECAs.

My son will study S1 in coming September.  I have no idea of the subjects in S1.  Any recommendation of exercises to assist him to prepare for the coming semester?
Can he choose guitar as the music instrument?

我好喜歡此校, 但因不住港島區, 想問下如不寄宿的話, 多不多九龍/新界走讀的學生....九龍如黃大仙, 觀塘, 油塘,  新界如荃灣, 沙田, 屯門.

我住新界, 我打算給兒子寄宿，另外我朋友分別住荃灣及藍田也有給子女寄宿, 我想若不是住港島(有校車/公共交通公具直達的地方)，走讀生都會辛苦。

My daughter was a boarder when she was S1 and S2 (until late May).  We live in Mei Foo.  The travelling time is around an hour (or more in the pm due to traffic jam).
