My son pretty good in Maths and sit for most Maths competitions as mentioned in this thread.
After some summer program's in some top notch international universities in USA and Uk, he changed his view in Maths in terms of application and career.
Some competition results come from drilling, that's not his cup of tea, because he is lazy and prefer do more with less.
He attended two program's in Imperial College, he visited Barclays Bank and got some understanding on application of Maths in investment models. In the Innovation program, he learnt how to prepare a business plan and do some pilot business in the campus. He discovered do calculation and as good as you can come up ideas, well prepare and well present.... He can be an entrepreneur, he also accepted that upto some level language proficiency may be more critical than other subjects.
I hope you all know why I put great summer programs in front of Maths competitions........ |
