科大國際生增至20% 5700人爭165學位

本港大學近年愈趨國際化，不少各地的優異生都選擇來港讀書。科技大學公佈今年非本地學生數目，佔科大學生近五分一，且競爭激烈，平均要二十七人爭一席位。

        科大表示今年共收到五千七百名外地學生申請入讀，其中有四千五百名為內地合資格申請者，經過甄選後，科大今年共錄取一百六十五名內地生，以及約一百五十名來自五十七個國家的國際本科生，更首次有自芬蘭、盧森堡，科威特等地學生。總計非本地學生的比例，由去年百分之十六增至百分之十八。

        被取錄的國際學生當中，不乏高材生，其中有兩位是馬來西亞高級教育文憑試的五優狀元。而藉國際文憑資歷入讀的新生，平均分高達三十七點四，比全球平均的二十九點五分，更高出七點九分。

        另外，科大稍後將會去到八個國家，以及二十一個城市進行推廣活動，更會首次到越南舉行簡介會。科大教授譚嘉因說，「透過畢業生對科大的好評，每年的國際報讀人數持續上升。」

看來37\38是他們的心中目標對像。港大中大呢？

港大中大都有 non-jupas 的入學條件, 各學系要求不同.  入學競爭愈大, 要求分數愈高, 收生平均分數資料未見.

去年看過一篇教育文章, 劍橋牛津 IB 收生約 38分.  但英國大學對 IB 不特別歡迎, 要求比本地成績更高, 原因無特別說明.

以我所知英國IB是受歡迎的。不同的career master 都講過。

For hot programs in HKU or CUHK, minimum requirement for IB is 38.  For medicine, it's 40.

CUHK & HKU's offers are excluded bonus points. After admission, they announced the IB scores are included bonus.

I chatted with two professor in CUHK on Sunday, he said he will issue conditional offer for QFin as 36, GBS as 40 are excluded bonus. The student 's score can be finally 36-39 included bonus.

So everytime talking about IB scores, we need to be very careful....... if not 差之千里

I always thought that bonus points should not be used in the counting.

In IBDP, on top of six electives from 6 groups, student also needs to fulfill CAS requirements. There is two more subjects TOK and EE, students got 2A or 1A1B can achieve max 3 bonus points or zero.

So 6 * 7 = 42; 42 + 3 = 45 as max.

SCMP 20 June 2011:
the study by UK higher education statistic agency on the university entrants in the 2008-2009 ... show that the no. of IB-trained entrancs at top schools was double that of A-level graduates.

Entrants with 35 or more IB points were more likely to be admitted into a top british institution.

... the study showed that 44% of full-time first degree entrants at the top 20 UK institutions had an IB qualification, vs 20% with A-level.

In UK, GCE AL - 30% A, IBDP, Grade 7 in average 7%. If we are the admission officer, we also take good IBDP students more than "good" GCE-AL students. Universities complained about the inflation of A in GCE-AL. Also most IBDP applicants are foreign students, universities prefer to take them as they need to pay overseas fee instead of local fee, a handsome revenue for UK universities.

What's your comment between HKDSE vs IBDP university admission from 2012 onward?

Difficult to compare dse and ib, bearing in mind that majority has no choice.
