Of course I know this, yet I believe the income of a non-resident husband should not be included in the wife's tax return who returns to Canada to accompany the kids, right?

Agreed.  I don't think a non-resident non-Canadian has to pay Canadian taxes.  I just thought the above-mentioned non-resident father could be a Canadian citizen declaring non-residency.

talent2000, thanks very much for your reply.

In case I don' t have any relatives or friends there.  The only guardian is me  ~ their mom, so what should I do / apply before going to Ca with my kids if they are Canadians ?  I will probably rent a house near the school before starting the school term in July-Aug 2012.  

If 2 of my kids are going to study there, can both of us ~ me and my husband apply to stay there with them respectively ?

唔好意思我想問下 :-

(1) 如果我同我女都有加拿大 passport, 係咪我女番Vancouver/Toronto 讀 公立 high school 就唔駛比錢 ? 駛唔駛我都要一齊係果邊住我女先有呢個福利 ? 私立 or boarding school 就要比全數 ? University 就比1/3 ?

(2) 加拿大退休金唔知係點樣 ? 如果我1x年前住左4年拎左個 passport 就回流左番香港, 唔記得有無申請左 non-resident, 係咪我要番去起碼住到65歲之後唔理有無做野, 政府就會以我住左幾年既比例比退休金我 ?

If my girl (P.6) is a Canada citizen, I plan to send her back to Canada to study
Year 9. (F.3) after 2 years. I will not stay here and she will study private shool
(1st year boarding for better learning enviroment, then may be change to day private school.) What can I do? I have some friends there. Can they applicant as her guardian? Because I need to stay in HK to support her school fee. Can I still claim to be non-resident?

My son is going to Toronto this Sept for grade 10, he is Canadian citizen.
May I ask you some questions ?

The private school which we have confirmed the offer said that students (Canadian
citizens returning to Ontario) can apply OHIP, but it takes a minimum of 3 to 4 months of
permanent residency before an individual will be considered for coverage under OHIP.
So they advised us to purchase a minimum of 3 months coverage of health insurance
at the starting of school.
So it is different from what you saying ??

Please advise where to go to apply OHIP and Sin Card ? Could advance booking be done in
Hong Kong ?

According to your experience, Toronto is extremely cold, could you suggest what to take care of and what must bring for the cold weather. Would easily get skin problem or sickness ??

Please advise.

You can apply for OHIP and SIN card after you arrive in Canada. You should also be able to get the temp insurance info from your school. Don't worry, the school will be able to help your son to apply for temp insurance on registration day.

IB curriculum is not easy to handle, especially for HK kids, since our mother tongue is not English. Besides, IB curriculum requires a lot of writing, and if your kid's writing ability is not excellent, maybe you want to have a second thought. However, IB is widely accepted by all Universities worldwide.
