其實係佢自己無放棄, 一直都好努力去準備每次測驗和考試.
佢有上英文grammer班(由小一到現在), 數學就做公文數, 中文就小五開始上門單對單補, 因為要呈分, 希望在中文科幫到幾多得幾多, 我自己就無乜點同佢溫書, 考前都係佢自己溫, 到考前一天我就會同佢一齊由頭到腳睇一次, 要佢講翻d重點比我聽, 咁就知佢識唔識, 唔識就解釋下比佢聽. 所以中英數常四科的成績都ok. 音樂都還可以, 但視藝就真係麻麻喇!  最開心就係上一次呈分試考到歷嚟最好的名次回來, 真係勁開心, 就係咁將佢呈分總成績拉上band 1頭.

可能他看書是明白故事內容,但不是完全明白每一句說什麼(他看得快,除非我在身邊,否則不會停下來問)。解題,不是全部唔明,刁鑽那些啫。


希望看得多會可以多些自己領會。 ...


My girl is the same.  Her reading is well above the rest of her class.  However I have noticed that she actually doesn't understand the full content of her chapter books, therefore sometimes I deliberately accompany her when reading to see how much she understands, and ask her questions.  Or else, I would ask her to give me a brief summary of the story. She very often makes careless mistakes.  She keeps on having 9+ marks in English, becoz I have been giving her exercises to train up her grammatical mistakes. It helps!

I do believe reading does help her a lot in her life time but may not see the effect in early primary schools as HK schools so much focus on "perfect answers".

My girl studies phonics since she was small, her comprehension is pretty good but definitely nothing to do with phonics, phonics help her on dictation and reading.  I donno if writing helps comprehension but it is no harm to take such course. What I have been doing is to check her understanding by sometimes reading with her, or ask questions on the content.

To me, I am also puzzled about my girl's chinese 理解能力.    What I have been doing is to read more readings with her and ask her questions, simulating those questions asked in her tests, to see if she actually understands.  Furthermore, I start to teach her to understand the sentence by looking at sentence structure, e.g. object/subject, adjectives, verbs etc.
