does any one know if they have sent out information on debenture and tuition information together with formal application form yet?  the school said last year that they would send out those information sometime in the New Year, i.e. January 2011.

Many Thanks.

I have received the information. However, I found its debenture is the most expensive one in HK. Wondering if I should invest or not.

Surely will give up of it....

This school is too new in HK.... I prefer to invest $$ in ISF instead.

But ISF is also new and has no track record at all... Harrow at least is a very famous brand in UK and it has branches in China and Bangkok already.  Its school fee is not the highest among IS in HK.

With a very beautiful new campus with boarding facilities in Tuen Mun and its positioning as an UK IS, I think it can attract many rich students across the border from China.

Hi WYmom,

Yes, you're right. But, just for myself, at least the ISF campus is existed already, and I may have school visit to observe the current school situation, and can ask for comments from ISF parents...

But, who knows, may be I will apply Harrow after couple years...hahahaha!

Yes, it is of course better to see the real campus and talk to some existing students and parents and staff.  Harrow's campus pic is really attractive, we can see it by mid-2012 soon.

I think Harrow can offer an alternative (AL) to other IB IS in HK as not all students are suitable to take IBD.

The Harrow Capital Note has more onerous terms than the ISF Capital Note... When you want to sell the Harrow Cap Note, you need to pay to Harrow an amount equal to the higher of (i) 50% of the profit you make and (ii) 10% of the face value of the Cap Note... that means you will only have profit if you can sell the Harrow Cap Note for more than HK$3.3 million... if you sell the Harrow Cap Note below HK$3.3MM (that include you selling the Harrow Cap Note at a loss (i.e. below HK$3mm)), you still need to pay the school the 10% fee (HK$300k)..

for the ISF Cap Note, you need to pay the school only if you are making profits on the cap note (50% sharing)...

how does Harrow's debenture work?

Given the 10% face value surcharge at the point of selling, how confident should we be about the possible selling price? the annual capital surcharge is only HK$50,000.  Say for a kid going to study in Harrow for 10 years without a debenture, it will only cost HK$500,000 extra for the parents.

Also may I have a brief idea how the debenture works? like (1) can I "pre-buy" it i.e. we are only prospectus parents, plan to have baby in a year time; (2) when can I sell it - anytime or only upon graduation of my kid in case he/she has got into the school; (3) any other advantage that the debenture brings, other than the waiving of the Extra Annual Capital Levy?

Many thanks...sorry for many questions...we are brand-new couple.
