I would say this school has met our expectation in terms of the quality of the school team, the school environment, their emphasis on discipline, and the academic standard. There are 2 things to consider though: the amount of homework and the exposure to English. Usually there are 6 - 8 items of homework, including correction. But considering the dictation/quiz/exam from time to time, the time spent on studying is still really something. Students therefore need to be trained to do things fast and correctly; otherwise, there won't be enough time for them to spend time reading or doing something else. As for English, given a chinese primary school, it is expected that students won't have that much of exposure to English, compared to their counterparts at other English primary school. In my opinion, extra help in this area is necessary.
In fact, as told by other parents, the school's academic strength lies in Maths and Putonghua. That is good, since I can see that Chinese is getting more and more important, when getting into secondary schools. A lot of secondary schools, including EMI, teach Liberal Studies in Chinese. To score high in Liberal Studies, students need to have good writing and analytical skills. So, studying at a Chinese primary school, while having good English training, is not a bad idea at all.
