有時比校長同老師“留下”太深嘅印象未必系件好事！老實講，如果小朋友系有“料”既，今年入唔到，明年再明年咪再戰羅！就算校長破例收左，但系到時小朋友讀唔得好，就失禮死人啦，仲點面對咁信任你嘅校長老師呀？！

我絕對同意你既講法, 咁緊要既事點會咁忟先去, 佢都話上星期出差啦, last day去交都有成日時間, 點會最後5分鐘先去, 根本自己攞黎既. 不過咁, 佢話只係帶漏副本, 即係有正本啦, 我去交果間都有幫家長影印, 呢個要睇間學校做法啦. 如果呢位太太真係好似你地講出到破釜沈舟呢招, 真係無野講, 我諗人地校長唔會咁做收佢囉~而且如果扮可憐真係得既話, 咪人人都去門口訓街求佢收?!
至於最後果位先生, 話帶漏正本, 乜都賴個老婆, 報唔到又滿口葡萄味, 唔該佢自己都檢討下啦~
我同我老公都好緊張, 佢俾左文件我, 我都自己帶上學校網check一次, 第一日點齊正副本, 唔夠就即刻去影印, 對好哂先去交表, 費事行兩轉嘛, 我果間都要交3個回郵信封.

My "slogan" applies - "Lazy parents seldom get any reward."

Homework for parents to do before submitting the form:

1. MUST read the "notes on completion of application form", especially on procedures and documents required to be submitted.

2. MUST check any additional requirements of the school to apply for, e.g. return envelops (not all schools need them), religion proof details, etc.

3. MUST check the form collection hours for the school, e.g. some schools do not collect forms in lunch hours, some schools close the submission counter at 4 pm instead of 5 pm.  Give the school a call if the form submission hours are not stated in the school's web site.

Don't assume that a school will accept your form if you do not adhere to the documentary requirements strictly, or that the school will give you any favour in case of any missing document.

I have little sympathy for those parents whose applications were rejected on the last day as reported in the news.  I received the blank application form with the notes on completion on 6 Sept and had more than 2 weeks to find out details.  It's hard to imagine that parents can be so busy that they could not spend any time during this period on the application process.

This is just for reference of next year's parents, as this year's "1st stage" procedures were over on 30 Sept.

On the other hand, I was shocked that some schools did not accept utility bills (the acceptable types, that is) that had not been paid yet.  It was meant to be an address proof, not a payment proof.  It probably reflects the ignorance or outdatedness of some schools in formulating guidelines on documents submitted.

me too, i'll also check repeatedly, point by point,to make sure everything is ready, and i tend to prepare extra copy of supporting documents, just in case.  

it's too risky to submit right by the deadline.....


....but i still have to go to the school twice, i am not aware the school accepts portfolio even for the discretionary stage

I prepared the portfolio in advance irrespective of whether the school would accept it or not.  At the end, the school did not take it.

Of course, browsing through posts on BK should be part of the homework too. :)

yes, I also prepared my girl's portfolio, but the school said they won't accept this at this round.

講起回郵信封, 我們在學校拿了一張交表須知,明明要回郵信封. 但到交表時卻又不收. 我差點想罵. 可能如brian61950 說,我們得15分吧.

Me too! And the school stated to bring 1 returned envelop, I brought 2 as a spare.  I will check all the points 3-4 times before sending form or go to the school.  Mark all the important dates on 3 different calendars at home. (in my room,  on my mobile, and one for my domestic helper)

However, I'm the only one in my house who care this issue. Neither my daughter nor my hunsband has a little bit worry about that!:tongue:

Of course it is!  That's why I was checking out topics here regularly since last year even though my son is admitting P1 in school year 2013/14.

It's not just about knowing the rules and the system, but those useful tips on how to play this game.  Experiences, including mistakes, from others are very important.  Some may say it's a bit too much and way too early, and I will say it's all about personality.
