I know from friends in universities that engineering prefer M2, Medicine prefer M1 etc. To be political correct and harmony, they treat M1 & M2 equal.

唔知可否問下你朋友：
我好奇怪，點解選 Medicine 不一定要修 biology？
舊制都一樣，但舊制會考生有修 biology，就算佢地預科冇修 bio. 而修 pure math，佢地都有 F5  的水平 (bio)。
334 學生如果在高中沒有修 bio.，咁佢地只學到 F3 (bio)。
好想知，其實大學收學生，會否給予修 bio. 學生額外 bonus，形成沒有修 bio 的學生入 medicine 機會少了？

只看病的醫生仔少用。但如要總結經驗、研究，就經常用到。

多數人認為M1淺，是因為應用知識居多，而且AL文科生也可以唸Maths & Stat。

覺得M2深，是因為學生要理解很多抽象的事物，才能應付這一科。

如果假設大家同樣要學一道公式，M1學生要懂應用公式解決問題，M2學生要明白公式的來源。

1.4.2 Interface with Post-secondary Pathways

The curriculum also aims to prepare students for a range of post-secondary pathways,
including tertiary education, vocational training and employment. It consists of a
Compulsory Part and an Extended Part. In order to broaden students’ choices for further study and work, two modules in the Extended Part are provided to further develop their
knowledge of mathematics.

These two modules are designed to cater for students who
intend to:

• pursue further studies which require more mathematics; or
• follow a career in fields such as natural sciences, computer sciences, technology or
  engineering.

Module 1 (Calculus and Statistics) focuses on statistics and the application of
mathematics, and is designed for students who will be involved in study and work which
demand a wider knowledge and deeper understanding of the application of mathematics,
in particular, statistics.

Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus) focuses on mathematics in depth and aims to cater for
students who will be involved in a mathematics-related discipline or career.
