I did make a porfolio, but not a big one. I just put all the school reports and some certificates together.

To prepare the "interview", I applied several schools and let my son experiencing what inteview will be. Of course, I don't expect my son doing well during the first few interviews. But after attending one or two interviews, my son was not nervous anymore. When he went to LMC interview, he really had fun.

My portfolio would not be that big as well. My daughter didn't win anything or attend any real courses with cert.
About interview, I am worried that my daughter would be too quiet in front of the teacheres. She supposed she has to be well behaved in schools.

It will be a group interview in LMC. The kids will be put in groups, round 5 to 6 in one group. They just play some games, or draw somethings during the interview. The teachers will just observe. So, you don't need to be so worried about it. Just relax and have fun during the interview.

As what I said, applying few more schools and attending some interviews might help your daughter to get used to it.

As the LMC interview is normally arranged later than other similiar DSS schools, e.g. TSL. When the time your daughter go to LMC interview, she should have experience on what interview is. She will be OK.

保良局lmc and 保良局lmc 有一度好, 佢地講明唔收portfolio 的, 不過若果你係第二round or 叩門, 雖然佢地都話唔收, 但要自己個小朋友令到學校對佢有深刻印像, 監生交本portfolio , 再叫小朋友在校長或主任面前叫聲佢地, 等佢地對呢個小朋友有印像.

至於正常interview, 佢地就真係 乜portfolio 都唔收, 但可以交applicatin form 時交一d ref. letter copies .. 如校長推薦信, 學kumon... 學英文... mm..  prize(如有的話), 做義工的參與証.  

文校長好健談架, intevrview 時, 若你比一d 好normal 的答案, 佢會反問你架. keee.. 我記得佢問我, 相信你都唔會只係in 一間直資 , right ?!  我話, 係呀, 兩間咋, 一間tsl, 一間就係lmc.  另外爸爸有20分入csk, 但我地都諗住加住lmc 呢個大家庭.

我舊年有比portfolio比LMC啊!我交form時一起比埋架。

不過我本portfolio都係將D成績接釘埋一齊比佢地。

will there be parents' interview in the first round?

Today I passed thought those LMC campus. :)

Yes, there will be a interview for parents at the same day as the kid's one.

If your daughter is accepted after the first round interview, they will post the successful applicants list at the end of November, if same as 2010-11 P1 application.

Do you mean there is only one interview?? Or does the 2nd interview held before Nov last year? Soooo nervous! ><

Yes, only one interview, no second interview required..at least during the 1st phase last year. For 2010-11 P1, we submitted the application in Sept, interviewed in October, and get the result in November..

I knew there was a second phase for application in May... I think..As I didn't go through the second phase, I don't know much about it.

Nervous..Yes it does...I was so nervous last year too. But luckily, my son got the offer last November. So, I didn't join the "Big Lucky Draw" as other parents.

Somehow having one interview is better for me.

I hope I needn't join the lucky draw! it is my biggest wish this year!

My area is very bad so I really don't want to depend on the lucky draw... however, I try not to expect anything. Perhaps no DSS schools would accept my daughter at last. :(

唔洗咁灰架, 若你想入lmc , 佢都有三次機會, 第一次在十一月, 第二次在第二年的五月, 第三次就係最後都冇註冊的位.  想問你女女讀邊間幼稚園架 ?

我現在好緊張中文堂用國語, kakakaka 我個仔平時成日讀歪小小就話自己識國語 @@ , 唔知到時佢學成點呢 ?

Do you know THINK? Somehow it isn't a famous kindergarten.
I know my daughter will have lessons in Mandarin and English only next year. So hopefully she would not have any problems to have Chinese lessons in Mandarin.
Children can learn languages pretty fast. I taught in a primary school before and children need to learn in Mandarin too! Their speaking and listening is quite good after a short while. (but I can't... haha)
