Born and educated in South Wales of the United Kingdom, HowXXX completed his musical training at Trinity College of Music, London, where he studied pianoforte with Irene Kohler, organ with Geoffrey Hanson and conducting with Charles Proctor. Postgraduate studies were undertaken at The Institute of Education London University and City University.
In 1967 he played the organ continuo in the first performance of Telemann's St Matthew Passion, which was given as part of the Camden Festival, London. Since then he has gone on to broadcast on both radio and television, examined, taught, lectured, conducted and adjudicated, as well as given innumerable organ recitals worldwide.
HXXXrd has lived in Bedfordshire since 1969 and has held posts as Director of Music in schools, churches and with choral societies. He was a member of the County Music Advisory Service and has served as a regional councillor for the Incorporated Society of Musicians. He is an examiner for Trinity College London, and is in constant demand as a freelance accompanist, organist, teacher and conductor.
Other interests include furniture making, D.I.Y., composing, and devising and presenting music and general knowledge quizzes.
