My girl is 8 years old now and I also plan to send her to UK to study at year 7. I think I will go with her and apply for day schools. I will be very worried if my girl, being at the age of 11, to be on her own, esp. there are so many temptation in UK and the moral thinking is so open. Girls at about 12 are so easily tempted and affected by others. If you want to send her to UK and if you are really worried, it will be much better when she gets older so that she will be more mature in thinking.
One more thing I worry is : the later you join the community, the harder you mingle with them.

I also have the same worries like you. I don't want my son to leave me at the age of 11, but I am afraid he can't get a place at year 9/10.
If in a boarding school, she will make lots of friends from different countries and background.
I just want to share my views with you. My grandparents sent my mom when she was 14, then she felt that age was too late, so when it came to me, my parents sent me over when I was just 11.
If you ask me, I would like to be there at age 8.
(Send her lots of letters from home!) she will have a lot of friends to grow up with!
